I happen to think the season finale was great. Lost may be the best show on television(the only other contenders are Arrested Development and Deadwood). I don't care that they didn't answer many questions. What I do care about is they continued to develop interesting characters and situations. I don't mind if they drag it a little like the X-Files did. The main problem with the X-Files is the creaters forgot the point of the show and had Samantha die in a barn and dance with a bunch of other ghost children. Also, if they expect you to pay for a movie, then they have to answer some questions and it should be better, not worse, than the television episodes. The X-Files could do episodes focusing on things other than alien mythology. Lost cannot do that.
I loved the Locke-Jack discussion on faith. It made a connection to the X-Files. Locke is Mulder, the believer who will stop at nothing to find his truth. Jack is Scully, the doctor who believes science will show the way to his truth.
I think Abrams has become the king of Season Ending Cliffhanger. The best Season Ending Cliffhanger is Star Trek Next Gen's "Best of Both Worlds" with Picard being assimilated and "Mr. Worf, fire.", but Abrams consistantly comes up will great ones.
Felicity Season 1-With whom does she go on summer vacation
Alias Season 1-"Mom?"
Alias Season 2-"You've been missing for three years"
Alias this Season-Vaughn's partial revelation and then car crash
Lost this Season-kidnapping, Sawyer may be dead, Hatch opens, etc.
