What you have to remember to make a good graphic for cover designs is that you have to make it bigger than you need. Leave edged all around. Even add edges if you can. In some cases you can’t. Then when you drop a graphic into a cover template, you have more room to work. Ideally, the template would be a little big so you can trim off part of the printed image for an clean edge (as opposed to trying to cut along an exact line and getting some white and then having to go back and recut and run the risk of an uneven edge). You have to plan for this when you place the images. The cover image may need to be a tiny bit offset. For professional printing they like to more room to cut. Though I just proofed something for work today that didn’t look like it had any over printing.

I’m just using the pdf provided here, is it high quality? I’m just going to print it at a print shop and have them cut it if they can.

You’ll need to make sure it prints at at least 300 dpi if you want “high quality”. Figure that out with your image and the print size. If you do a little research online you can learn all about this. Take fifteen minutes to google for the proper blu-ray cover template size, and what “dpi” means, and what the image resolution is in whatever your source image is. This will help you figure out what you need and what to tell your print shop to get a perfect cover.

And yes, ideally you add what’s called “bleed” to the edges of the image to allow for room to cut it perfectly.

Again, I’m using the cover uploaded here. I just want to know if it’s the highest DPI possible or if there’s a higher quality version as the one provided here is a bit blurry on my monitor.

UPDATE: I’m an idiot, i just saw Phildesfr’s updated Blu Ray set, and I found some Blu-Ray templates that fit my cases, hopefully I don’t mess this up…
