Easy. The Empire Strikes Back. Nothing will ever be able to beat that movie. Ever.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, The original classic Star Wars is the best.

It's still a tie between IV and V, and always will be.

Made for IE Forum's Episode III theme month - May 2005.

While I think ESB is a 'better' film...my personal favorite is and always will be ANH.

"Empire" is still the best SW ever, it kicks ass of episode3 a billion times!

The Empire Strikes Back, of course!

I can't remember where I heard it, but Ben Burtt said that most people were not impressed and disappointed with Empire. Over the years, though, most people fell in love with it and said it's the best out of the three. Maybe it wasn't loved at first because it wasn't as action oriented as Star Wars?

I love it because of the emotion with Yoda, Vader's reveal to Luke, the scenes in the astroid field and on Hoth, Boba Fett, and the towards the end it was SO VERY suspenseful. Overall it captured the most emotion, I think.

It is a tough one to pick cos i love both Return and Revenge. Return of the Jedi is my favorite in the saga but Revenge is my new one so i gonna have to go with Revenge of the Sith.

2004 DVD comentaries.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

After seeing Sith twice now, I have to say that the ONLY thing that keep it from being my favorite is that The Empire Strikes Back has Han Solo. Of course, in the grand scheme of things, Han Solo turned out to not be a major player, but he was still fun to watch, and my all-time favorite SW character. And how many guys can say that they attempted to kill their father-in-laws... only to have said father in law freeze your ass?

So, I'd have to say that my list is as follows:

1. Empire Strikes Back / Revenge of the Sith (tie)
2. A New Hope
3. Return of the Jedi
4. Phantom Menace / Attack of the Clones (tie)
Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.

I wonder who voted for "Clones".

My order is

Empire
Star Wars
Revenge
Return
Phantom
Clones

Empire is, has and always will be the supreme ruler of the Star Wars films.

If perfection had a name, it would be The Empire Strikes Back.

I liked Sith and all, but it will always be ESB #1 followed by ANH. Sith and ROTJ are tied for me. Both have great parts, but some problems. AOTC AND TPM have problems, and a couple of good parts.

ESB always. Stylisticly the most interesting to me. The only Star Wars film with half-decent dialog. Fun and tragic. The details of the force.
Sith is another magic movie. A Return of the Jedi with a more interesting story. I actually cried for about 40% of the time the first time I watched it. Just gut wrenchingly ugly and tragic. So in short...

Empire
Sith
Hope
Menace
Jedi
Clones

No offense to Jedi, but I feel it drags too much in the middle. Hopefully, Williams has been asked to compose some new stuff for A New Hope, because I think it's too detached to the overall story right now. Very impressed with the outcome of all the movies stringed together.

Empire, of course! ANH is in close second. After that is a near-tie between ROTJ and ROTS with ROTS coming out the victor, and then way down there are AOTC and TPM.

1.) TESB - The darkest and deepest film. I don't really need to explain this.
2.) ANH - We would all love Star Wars even if this was the only film. 'Nuff said.
3.) ROTJ - Jabba scenes, death of Yoda, and the final battle outweigh Ewoks and the beginning of Lucas's downfall.
4.) TPM - Qui Gon and Darth Maul are fantastic. I still feel sad at the death of Qui Gon, maybe the only time I care about a character in the PT. Jake Lloyd, against all odds, the best Anakin in the PT (not saying much).
5.) AOTC - Rubbish, but didn't need to be as good as III had to be.
6.) ROTS - Maybe the most important film of the saga. Fails at all major/important plot tie-ups. Anakin's turn to Dark Side utterly unconvincing.
