The others were done at avg 4.5 Mbps, max=7.5. If I use that for ROTP, I can’t even fit the optical audio on the disc, let alone menus and extras.
If I drop the average bit rate to 4.0 Mbps, I can fit the optical audio at 2/0 (192k) and still have some room for other stuff. Not sure if a second audio track would fit. I can’t immediately discern the difference between 4.5 and 4.0. I’m fearful of even trying 3.5, thus my asking what others have tried.
I can save a tiny amount of space by dropping the audio to 1/0 and a lower bitrate. My guess is that a bitrate of 64k would be indistinguishable for the optical audio. I’m not sure whether the hassle that 1/0 might create on some DVD players (center channel only?) to be worth the small amount of savings. And obviously I wouldn’t have that option for LD stereo.
