Well this project is 5 years old and no one has given an update in over half a year… And I said almost beginning, but I still have hope. It just would be nice to hear what’s happening, even if it’s not happening. I do hope the best for Puggo and this project but if there’s something else, it would be nice to know.

Where were you in '77?
One of the problems I was having relates to my encoding software. MovieStudio uses MainConcept, which was producing inferior results to my old TMPGE. But TMPGE no longer works starting with Windows7, and is now embedded in a new Pegasus product. I couldn’t get that product to properly set the pulldown flag without changing framerate. I wrote to Pegasus 2 years ago and they said it wasn’t possible. So I’ve been wrestling unhappily with MainConcept. I tried writing again to Pegasus (now 2 years later), and this time they responded with what might be a solution. I’m out of town for the weekend, but I’ll give it a try on Monday.

Failing that, could you run XP in a VM to get TMPGE working as it was pre-Win7?

I actually still have my old Windows2k machine and could use that. I was trying to avoid that because it’s slow as molasses, plus it’s a pain to drag out all the pieces and set it up. In my email to Pegasus I told them I may have to do that, in the hopes that the embarrassment would spur them into finding a solution. 😃
By the way, TMPGE actually does mostly work in Windows 7, it’s just the mpeg2 plugin that fails.
I still expect there to be a quick glitch near the start, plus problems in reel 1 with contrast. And of course fur balls and mouse droppings.
