I’m seeding it non stop for the last 48 hours
So do I!
yeah,i got it.utorrent take a few hours to search for seeders for (only) a new hope.
thanks.
will there be someone to do this with german crawl and language?
IIRC the best versions are NTSC for EP 4 and 5, and PAL for EP 6.
At least, EP 4 on NTSC has a bigger frame: http://screenshotcomparison.com/comparison/215194

What I’ve found strange is that I really like the look of ANH and ESB in this set, but don’t think the RotJ looks as good as the other two - It looks good, just not as much of an improvement.
I especially found that strange because of the general concensus of ANH/ESB in NTSC, RotJ in PAL.

After this, will you move on to ROPUT (Rise of the Prequel Unaltered Trilogy).
Ep 1: laserdisc
Ep 2: Centropy bootleg
Ep 3: screener…
And perhaps you should release Star Wars first, that way you can get any feedback before encoding/ releasing ESB/RotJ
Tempting, very tempting. Only time will tell – I would love to at least preserve TPM though!
Good idea, I’ll start with ANH first, paired with the '93 LD audio in LPCM.
I would love it if you could do a preservation of the Phantom Menace laser disc.
Finally just sat down to take a look at ESB, and it’s really remarkable. I’ve always thought this was the worst looking one of the three in raw GOUT form, and I’m floored by how much you’ve managed to do with it.
Any updates on an ANH crawl version?

I’m getting close to being done with my 1080p remaster of the 81 crawl. The LD versions would be of noticeably lower quality, but they are an option as well.

I’m currently working on a preservation of TPM Laserdisc, based on several LD sources (Althor, Andrea, AngrySvn) and PAL DVB broadcasts (Canal + Scandinavia, ORF Eins) found on MySpleen and Usenet. First results are very encouraging, I hope I’ll be able to upload something in the next few weeks.
Just watched a new hope and it look great!!
Just watched your ANH side-by-side with the de-specialized…and I have to say even though there is clearly less detail in this version…it just feels closer to the way I remember seeing this movie. The colors feel better to me…maybe it’s just all the years I watched pretty much this transfer on Laserdisc… Thanks for all the hard work that went into it!
Bumpin’, but for good reason.
Considering doing a totally non-GOUT LaserDisc based project, except this time it will be DVD res only. Here’s a sample of my EMPIRE capture from the “Special Letterbox Edition,” which has been run through AviSynth with a similar script: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1d2pEwaEOq0neyLg05_F0iKYEm9gMSN2W
Clip was captured with a very low-end CLD-980 running the video through a comb-filter and then converted to S-Video. Footage was then IVTC’d and run through AviSynth!
If there’s enough interest for a project like this, I’ll make a new thread. It’s kinda redundant, considering the 4k scans going on and the digital GOUT releases, but LaserDisc is fun to tool around with…

I’d definitely give this a shot. I’d Use the Special Letterbox Edition for Empire and Jedi, and JSC for Star Wars, though patching in the SLE on that occasionally for Death Star shots that tend a little too yellow (especially Tarkin shots).

Does the JSC have shrinking aspect ratio, or was that only fixed for the Technidisc release?

Lddb.com says that the shrinking aspect ratio was only in the US releases and not the JSC.
Sorry, thought I’d responded days ago. Yup, no shrinking on JSC.

Will make a new thread when the time comes, but currently, I’ve been talking with another user on this forum who has an X0 and a great video processor – the Lumagen, to be precise.
He has kindly agreed to transfer my discs when the time comes, but we’re not sure when that is, as he’s got many other things to attend to at the moment.
I’ve seen footage of the JSC ANH disc from his X0 player and Lumagen, and it looks f–ing amazing for LaserDisc. This will be the REVENGE OF THE X0, or perhaps THE X0 AWAKENS.

Would anyone be willing and able to seed these again? I no longer have the hard drive where I’d saved these and I’d love to revisit them. Been feeling a lot of GOUT nostalgia lately for whatever reason.
Sorry to necro, but I cam across this thread when I gave another crack to effectively transcode my NTSC GOUT to H264/H265.
Would someone please explain the purpose of the -6 hue tweak? It adds a definite green tinge to exterior Tatooine scenes. It doesn’t look good when compared to the source, and I think it looks better without that shift. It does seem to help keep the grays in Empire more neutral, but I am wondering if I should drop the shift from there as well for consistencies sake. I note the scripts seem to target PAL sources. Was there just some funny business with the color space of the PAL release? That would explain my problems.
Also, is there strong reason to have the script do the resizing? The doubling of height is needed for the better, slower antialiasing filters, but I see no filtering along the scan lines, only across. Wouldn’t it be better to recalculate the anamorphic ratios instead of messing with the storage width? A crop to 540 height yields frames that are perfectly sized for 720p letterboxing to apply subs to!
Curious if anyone has any interest in branching off this project.
Would love to see the initial parts of the scripts used for this (up through and including Levels and Gamma adjustment) rendered to a lossless file and AI upscaled to 1080p (4k would be Overkill, I’m sure).
I don’t have access to the PAL DVDs or AI upscaling, so this is just me wishing 😅. But seems worth the shot.
