trying to come up with some programs to create a lossless audio track from 6 .wav files(16bit) each. I can get it working with ac3 from audacity but lossless doesn’t work after muxing it into the movie with mkvmerge. What programs do you use?
Exporting it with Audacity as WAV (Microsoft) PCM 16bit should work…

The easiest way to do this will be to download ffmpeg and create a batchfile. You should be able to drag your 6 wav files onto the batch file icon and have ffmpeg output a 5.1 wav. I’ll double check this before I post an example batch file.
Edit: Another option is to use a program called wavewizard to merge the 6 files into one multichannel output. You have to be careful about files larger than 4Gb as normal wav files won’t natively support larger file sizes.

Ok, This will depend on the authoring software you use, but I’m going to assume you’re using TSmuxer on Windows.
Download and extract ffmpeg. here
Copy this text to a new batch (*.bat) file and save it in the “bin” folder where the ffmpeg.exe file is saved.
Number or label your six wav files in the correct order 1-L, 2-R, 3-C, 4-LFE, 5-SL, and 6-SR, select all six files, then drag & drop them on the batch file you just created. The batch file will make a new output subfolder labeled “51” containing your 5.1 w64 pcm file, which is readable by TS Muxer.

I think DTS is what you are looking for. I’m not sure how to get that but at least its a start 😃

Since 99.9% of the people can’t hear the difference between high bitrate DTS/DD and lossless, you should consider using ffdcaenc. DTS at 48khz & 1509 Kbps should sound great.
