This is very disappointing news.

Looks like another cash-grab by Lucasfilm, instead of the Ultra-Completed Saga Edition we were all hoping for. It just doesn't make any sense that the movies are "the way he wants them now". There is proof that ILM has redone the TPM Yoda with a digital version, and wasn't there some talk a couple years ago by John Williams saying how Lucas had him record a few additions and subtractions to the score, namely the Imperial March to be integrated into A New Hope and few other things?

A new "death of Obi-Wan" scene had also been mentioned, and it makes sense, since we see this gigantic lightsaber battle in ROTS, only to see it's conclusion acted out by the very limited "duel" offered in ANH. With a death star hallway set, a guy in a Vader costume, and the digital stunt double thing they used for Christopher Lee, it should be a reasonably easy thing to do.

I'd like a copy of the original release of the OT for the archives, but I'd also like to see him take all the films as a whole and integrate them all into one satisfying 12-hour movie. As it stands, I don't think the films in their current form reflect that. And releasing all the current DVDs as a box set and throwing a few deleted scenes on a bonus disc just doesn't work for me.

I agree with you too.

I can't belive there won't be a Blu-ray version of the boxset.

What makes you say that JediKev?

We don't even know if Blu-ray is gonna be the next format yet. Seems there may be a format war between Bu-ray and HD-DVD a la Beta vs VHS from back in the 80s.

But, my money is on Blu-ray....Sony is going about it very intelligently...they have a ton of movie studios commited to the format....and most of the computer industry. What's going to do it is PlayStation 3. That's coming out next May and it will have Blu-ray. Perfect way to introduce the format and get the ball rolling on it. HD-DVD lost before it ever even got out the door.

Ohh i ment the 2007 saga boxset, but i'm sure Lucasfilm will relase a future blu ray set.

I'm surprised anyone can find it there. Stuff gets buried or rolled into another thread so fast in that over-moderated pain in the ass message board.

About that 2007 set.....have you heard any rumor on what exactly will be on it?

I heard the 6 films (3 PT and 3 OT SE) and then a bonus disk with deleted scenes from the OT.

What about the bonus disks already available with the prequels? or the OT DVD set? Are those going to be included?
Author
Time
Yes that's the just of it.

I've also heard there will be a huge comprehensive saga documentry...3 hours or more????

about the whole saga????

but then again it's just a rumor.

Well that kind of sucks if it won't include the bonus stuff that's already available.

I swear I fucking HATE Lucas sometimes.
Author

Won't matter anyway the deleted scenes that would be included in the bonus dvd will disappointing.

The man is known for careful wording. Note that the movies are the way he wants them "now"...
That doesn't mean that later he won't them another way, or that the dvds are necessarily the way he wants them now. He could have already had the stuff added to a print before he made that statement.
All he said is that for this moment, he is happy with what he has.

Hell, the UK saga screening already had a change again from the dvd. They screened the dvd versions on the big screen, but Hayden was removed as the force ghost and Shaw was re-inserted.

but that does'nt mean that he won't go and fix anything or add anything, unfortuanatly.

There's a reason he said "right now." I'm sure he'll find something to change in the future, once he can step back and take a look at all six films.

I really don't believe a fucking word he says anymore. Man's full of shit.

I really doubt this. That new 3D technology that was so impressive is for theaters only I think.....is it even possible to do 3-D on DVD?

Depends on how he does it.....I thought the Emperor added to Empire was a good idea....until I saw the scene and was greatly disturbed that all the fucking dialogue in the whole fucking scene was changed. Which reminds me.....this is the subject of my next post in general discussion. Back to the subject....be careful what changes you ask for.....cuz Lucas rarely does the common sense thing.

Actually the new dialogue in the DVD makes sense.

When did you see this? And are you sure it was the DVD release? Absolutely sure?

If they showed this in the theater...it does make sense that they showed you the 1997 SEs....
