For Leia remembering her mother, the Lucas quote seems to confirm what I first said ... though it's still a little unclear.
For the links between characters with the Force etc ... some extensions of the Force concept have come to an absurd point where it can explain whatever you may wonder ... they kinda ruined it ... (I'm not even mentionning the "Midichlorians" :-/
