Rian Johnson was hired to WRITE and direct VIII. L&M were hired to direct Kasdan’s script so naturally they didn’t have the same amount of freedom. Rian doesn’t seem to be held back and is making his movie. James Gunn and Taikai Waititi have definitely made movies that are very much their own. I guess some people know how to work well with others and some don’t.
