In the game, you choose your starting class. It will dictate your attributes and starting saber color. Jedi Guardian is fight oriented. They get a blue saber and more skill point to work on combat. Jedi Consular is Force oriented. They get a green saber and lower defense and skill point, but a lot of Force points. Sentinal is a balance between them and gets the best defence and medium others as well as a yellow saber. KotOR II took it a step further by introducing the Prestiege classes. Weason Master is the next step from Guadian, Watchman a step up from Sentinel and Master the next up from Consular. I was a Sentinel turned Weapon Master in my game.

Even Sith have classes. There was Sith Maurader, Sith Assassin, and Sith Lord.
