Just found out that Marcia Lucas showed up!
Just found out that Marcia Lucas showed up!
Apparently, George is out of the country and didn’t show; but Marcia did!
EDIT: Whoops, beaten to the punch 😃

Apparently, George is out of the country…
Instead he attended the F1 Race in Monaco.
Rogue One is redundant. Just play the first mission of DARK FORCES.

Man, that is one hell of a lot of amazing in one room. Very cool event. Once in a lifetime for sure.
I didn’t see many flies on the walls of the original trilogy.

Awesome pics! This must be the first event (and Star Wars related too) in decades where Marcia Lucas showed up. So many unsung people which made the OT possible.
George really gets too much credit…

I agree and I have to say it doesn’t bother me in the least that George wasn’t part of it. Considering his decades-long (and successful so far) war to suppress the work, contributions, and accolades of everyone in that room, I’m elated that he didn’t contaminate that event the way he’s contaminated the Original Trilogy.
Lucas probably has final edits on any pictures. They will be released when the fit his “original vision.” They always wanted Jabba the Hutt to be there.
It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

Yeah, don’t want the guy who created the series there to “contaminate” the room full of people who worked for him as employees. Star Wars fans can be the absolute worst, isn’t it possible to just appreciate the event without having to pull up an excuse to crap all over George Lucas?
I guess pigs will fly one day too.
Maybe someday when something you worked hard on and received a lot of recognition for is just suddenly replaced by something else you’ll understand. I doubt much of that event was spent crapping on Lucas but nonetheless it is a bit bittersweet for them to all be gathered together for one event to celebrate SW40 when much of the work they did isn’t even in the film anymore.

(since I’m too lazy to check)
Were any of the alums who ended up going along with the alterations twenty years later present at this get-together? I’m talking about people like Muren (he’s actually the only one I can think of off the top of my head).

John Knoll and Ben Burtt at least.

Based on his post history, I doubt it.

Ben Burtt is another one I was forgetting, but Knoll wouldn’t count since he didn’t work on the OOT.
He may not have worked on it, but Knoll was still at the party…

Right, but I was trying to think of people who were both involved with the OOT’s production and worked on the SE.

I misremembered what he said in a recent interview. He was just wisiting ILM as a teenager, not started working there. Before the interview I wouldn’t have made any connection with him and the OOT.

One can hope right??..Nah who am I kidding.

Was Muren even there?
He’s not in any of the pictures they posted.

George is the one who decided not to be there. I guess a race in Monaco was more important to him than celebrating the 40th anniversary with all the people who helped him make the movie.
Where were you in '77?

Considering how badly he doesn’t want to be associated with Star Wars anymore, I’m not surprised.

Attending Celebration and that photo taken in Monaco seems to contradict that a tad?
