Exactly. I mean, Motti was obviously not ranked superior to Vader, yet he was not afraid to tell him about his "sorcerous ways" and stuff... They are just high ranked officers who are not submisse or afraid of that weird magical cyborg who is supposed to serve the Emperor. By the way, what exactly did vader between episodes 3 and 4? Nothing at all. To the officers, Vader was just a bizarre aftermath of the clone wars, a walking relique...
