Notes:

The fullscreen DVDs of HP 1,2,4,5,6 are 1.33:1 open matte, but, apart in rare cases where there is a bit more image (and a lot less), they are in practice contained within the 1.78:1 frame; for this reason - and also because they are low res - they will not be taken in consideration

HP 3 on DVD is pan & scan; on HD is mainly pan&scan but has more image than fullscreen DVD on both sides, even if cropped in comparison to widescreen; it retains few lines of image more on top and bottom

HP 6 is the same, but retains a bit more few lines in comparison; actually, this is applicable only to pan&scan scenes; there are many scenes which are open matte, can’t quantify them for the moment, but are not surely scarce like ep. 7

HP 1 2 3 4 6 do need IVTC, while 5 does not; HP 8 has some residual deinterlace artefact; HDTV would benefit of deblocking, denoise, and a grain plate, as well as the WEBdl, even if for the latter difference is less evident

HP 6 7 8 have logo that would be wiped away using a second (or third) source

HP 7 best currently available version is 720p - a 1080i/p HDTV would be very welcome!

HP 8: an eventual “IMAX” reconstruction could be taken in consideration as a side project

HP 1 2 3 4 6 7 8 HDTV and HP 5 WEBdl would be used as main sources

Of course, the usual 5 languages (audio and subtitle tracks) would be added.

So HP1 is a full 16/9 version that’s actually part open-matte, part zoomed-in reframed shots.

Andrea,
I had also sent you HP6 OM SD and full screen SD, remember?

@Beber: AFAIK, HP 1 HDTV is 100% open matte, so technically this version would be 99.8% open matte and 0.2% cropped!

@Papai2013: sorry, you are right, but with all those sources I forgot to credit you, please forgive me! First post edited to reflects your help (both here and there), thanks again!

So is there any progress on this project? In the meantime can anybody point me in the right direction as to where I might be able to find HDTV rips at least? They don’t seem to be on MySpleen or public trackers.

That’s OK. Without your effort, none of us would have been able to see these amazing restorations that you do.

Is there any particular reason you’re being such an asshole? Or do you just not realize that some people have to work for a living? I guess unless I spend all my limited free time working on restoring illicitly acquired 35mm prints, I have no right to ask others politely about the status of their ongoing projects. My mistake, won’t make it again.

I’m sure DVD-BOY was right.

Back on topic, it would be finished ASAP, because there is also another source (probably) to be used to get even higher quality.

And, as clutchins wrote, I update the progress on fanres, mainly.

My reply was to Andrea, not anybody else. I made the mistake of not referring to him by name. But I didn’t deserve to be insulted by “Density.”

As for calling me an “A-hole,” please do not unnecessarily create conflict. Without seeking any clarification, you naturally assumed I was being sarcastic to you. Also, don’t drag my personal life, job, etc into this. Do you know whether I earn a living or not? Then why did you say “some people have to work for a living”?
Whatever your issues are, don’t bring them here. Here we don’t ask people about their professions or insult them without knowing anything. This is a place for sharing our love of cinema.

You’ve got some sort of artifact in the first scene where the part of a tree on the left side of the frame shifts.

A new first scene is now ready; I think it’s very good now!

I downloaded all these, watching the first one, which is really great, but the title says “sorcerer” still. Am I correct in there is an updated version now that has it changed to "philosopher?
