I have SW and ESB 1.0, and RotJ 2.7. I’m thinking about replacing SW and eSB with 2.7, what are the differences between them?

Well, SW 1.0 is extremely out of date. Just about everything has been improved dramatically since then. ESB 1.0 isn’t terrible, but 2.0 uses much higher quality sources. The encodings of all the 1.0s are also lower quality (low bitrate, a bit more pixelated).

As for Jedi 2.7, it doesn’t exist which is problematic for comparisons. But Jedi 2.5 is out, and ESB 2.5 will be someday in the hopefully-not-too-distant future.

My bad. Jedi 2.5, then. Is there anywhere I can see comparisons between them? All I know that’s different between ANH 1.0 and ANH 2.7 is that the Leia hologram is different.

The galleries aren’t as easily found and browsed as when Google used the Picasa image system, but you can find the comparisons here: https://plus.google.com/photos/109609428403596349302/albums/5932164278535972945

Looking at the galleries, turns out I actually do have the most recent versions of SW and ESB. I didn’t think so because a few months ago I had RotJ 1.0, and I kinda assumed I had SW and ESB 1.0 too.

Jedi 2.7 is the color corrected version of 2.5. Harry did the 2.5 but not the color correction.

There aren’t too many noticeable differences, but one thing that stood out for me is the part in Cloud City when they are meeting Lando for the first time. Harmy replaced the background matte with a very high quality scan and it is GORGEOUS in the new version.

I’m not sure if this is a joke post or mistake (autocorrect?), but I’ll correct it either way for the sake of the newcomer since he was already confused about this:

I adjusted the color of SW, not Jedi, in a version 2.7, based on Harmy’s 2.5 (there are some other updates besides the color). The latest Jedi release is 2.5, which was released by Harmy.

Crap, yeah, I screwed that up. I was thinking hope each time a read Jedi because Hope is where I first learned about the Jedi!

Sorry for the confusion.

If you are unsure what version of despecialized you have you can always check the end credits. Harmy started to add version numbers at the end of the credits for just such an occasion.

IIRC, though, isn’t one of them incorrect? Maybe it was Jedi still saying 2.0?

First I heard of that but my lurking skills aren’t what they used to be. Hopefully someone knows the answer to that.

The credits are right; it’s the filename which is misleading in this instance.
The latest Jedi v2.5 has “v2.0” in the filename for the AVCHD version, but the credits correctly say v2.5.

I don’t recall there being any other inconsistencies in the DeEd filenames.

I think SW 2.7 has the wrong version number. If not, then the wrong version number is actually SSE.

I redid the whole end credits from scratch, so hopefully I didn’t screw up that number. Possible, though.

Hey guys,

I’m making a box set of the Despecilzed editions using some of the awesome art that’s available here on the forms.

But I’m completely new to disk burning and could use some pointers.

I have Toast 11 Titanium, a blue ray burner, and some 25 GB blue-ray disks.

Ideally, I’d like to have some Star Warsy menus to select stuff like subtitles and some menu music. Is there somewhere I can download a complete disk ISO (am I using that term right?) that someone has had the expertise and spent the time to add the menu bells and whistles? I think I would then just burn the ISO onto the disk and avoid the whole process of menu creation or dropping the mkv file into the burning software. Ideally, the ISO would have the most up to date versions of the films.

Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

Edit: I found this thread and oh boy is it a deep rabbit hole.

I’ve already made my cases and bought my discs but seeing what everyone else has done, I might have to remake them and buy different discs, ha!

No, seriously, I’ve got to admit I was playing a bit of a waiting game - I was half expecting them to announce an official release at celebration, so I thought I’d wait and see. And now, not only have they not announced anything at celebration, Kennedy actually specifically said they had no plans to release the originals.

So much for that. -__-

Okay, maybe someone can help with this.

Today, I used PowerISO to mount the Version 2.7 ISO file and watch the film for the 40th. I use MPC with the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. It played fine, and there were several audio options to choose from, but NO subtitles. I thought this was strange, but maybe a result of watching it the way I did instead of on a BD disc?

Can someone confirm that is the case and the subs will be there once I burn it? I’d appreciate it.

I’m not 100% sure about every format and every version, but IIRC Despecialized never comes with embedded subtitles. They’re available only as separate SRT files. If subtitles are important to you, I’d recommend downloading Project Threepio separately and follow the included README to get the subtitles embedded in your ISO.

I know that it’s not embedded, and the SRT files cannot be copied into an ISO. Project Threepio NFO has nothing about ISO’s. So now what?

Read the README.html file about how to make a Blu-ray. You’ll need the full Project Threepio, not just the files included with DeEd.

EDIT: Oh, and you can ask more specific details via PM.

Are there dates for when each of the versions were released? I burned all three despecialized films onto DVD a few years ago, but I have no idea which versions I had or if there have been any updates to them or not. I’d like to update them if newer, better versions are available, but I can’t easily find any of the version release dates. TIA!

Check the end end credits (The despecialised credits tacked on to the end). it should include a roman numeral version number, which is nearly always accurate (one release it was not updated for, i forget which).
