Where were you in '77?
Star Wars is really a cultural art piece puzzle. It becomes this rabbit-hole of changes based off what a fan wishes to see; if you change one thing, do you change everything else? I recently saw Adywan’s scene with the Emperor’s hologram from ESB:R and it hit me that’s seriously the only scene I would want in say, Harmy’s Despecialized version. The 2004 scene is beyond awful, but the concept makes total sense. The original 1980 just suffers from Lucas not sure how to do the Emperor until Jedi came out, so it’s this rather bizarre artifact that remains. But seriously, that’s the only scene in ESB that would make the Despecialized version that much more sweeter for me.
Anyway, what I’m getting at is that over the decades, there’s been additional Star Wars “puzzle pieces” materialized and all of them can get mixed and matched to create your own version of Star Wars. If by some off chance Disney released the OUT, I imagine it would still be met with criticism. Say it’s a restored and cleaned up release through and through; it still may leave a sour taste for today’s fans of Star Wars.

The longer fans have waited for a ‘proper’ release of the Star Wars trilogy, the more headache inducing it becomes given how Star Wars has been seen differently from person to person, generation after generation, and each expect something different when viewing these films.
If anything, this period where Disney is quiet about OUT is probably actually for the best because we, the fans, have more control over how we release Star Wars. What I fear is that if a OUT gets officially released, it will kill the kind of communities we have here, where there’s more freedom and creativity to mix and match how we see Star Wars.

If such a popular movie as Star Wars has had the special editions take the place of the originals, and the general public is barely aware of it, how many other movies out there have had something similar done to them that almost no one is aware of? Exactly how much cinema history has been rewritten or lost? Just because something is less popular doesn’t mean it is less significant.
There has never been a better time for a live action Star Wars show. Look how many comic superhero shows there are. I’d have one mainstream show air on ABC and another less traditional one on Netflix. A well done Star Wars show would surpass both Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica.
Someone should get the Original Trilogy Facebook page going more before the 25th. Some people prefer it to Twitter and you can never have enough shares if you are trying to be heard.
Hearing Lucas speak at Celebration made me wonder if that is the last time we will really see him. He didn’t seem 100%.
Hamill still calls it Star Wars. That makes me happy.

I even read a relatively recent (but Pre-Disney) interview in which Kathy Kennedy refers to it as such.

Those “rules” are what makes a movie good though. They aren’t arbitrary.

None because there are no rules. As long as things make sense and are relevant to the plot, they are fine. TFA sucks because 2/3 of the things are not relevant to the plot.
This is an ignorant comment. Writing is a craft, and successful writers don’t just sit down and write whatever comes to mind. The same way John Williams spent years studying music and music theory, before he could possibly hope to compose the music for Star Wars, so to a good writer will spend years studying storytelling and screenwriting theory before they are capable of writing anything nearly as good.
The person who just types up a script with the idea that as long as everything makes sense and is relevant, and otherwise has no clue what they are doing, is the same as the “composer” who just grabs some pots and pans and starts banging them together, thinking it sounds good.
Mark Hamill is a talented voice actor.
Star Wars has had a series of successful animated television programs recently.
They should make a Star Wars cartoon/CGI series about Luke Skywalker that takes place after any of the OT films.
I’d be surprised if they weren’t looking at such an idea for when Rebels finishes it’s run.
Perry King is still around, and could probably voice Han Solo like he did in the radio adaptations.

Had some time to kill after a doctor’s appointment today, and wandered the local mall for a while. I thought the Disney store would have more Star Wars stuff? I find the die cast figures amusing, as there were bootleg Kenner figures in Europe made out of metal. Just the thing you want little Timmy dropping off a third story balcony on someone’s head.
Disappointed in the lack of Moroff merchandise. (They really missed the boat not making a plush toy.) I didn’t see any Guardians Of The Galaxy stuff, but I didn’t wander too far into the store.
Bought some groceries at Target, and passed through the toy aisle, and what should I see? That action figure two pack with Moroff! Only one on the pegs, and sitting right in front like it was waiting for me. Impulse buy! Haven’t bought a SW figure in a long time.

It’s much older than that, I think. A “Boy’s own Adventure” term. e.g. “I’ve got a wizard idea to sneak into the tuck shop when matron is in the east wing!” LOL It’s quite different to the modern usage e.g. “She is a wizard on the guitar”, or “She is a guitar wizard”. The old use would be “She is a wizard guitar player”.
JK Rowling was no doubt aware of this, when she named “Wizard Wheezes”, being a play on the multiple meanings of “Wizard” and Harry Potter’s origins in Boy’s Own tropes.
RAF pilots would also use the term in WW2 (possibly WW1 too) e.g. “He’s a wizard pilot, that chap!”
EDIT: It was used in 1954’s ‘Lord of the Flies’. I can confirm that at least.

Awesome. I’ve never had a Star Wars shirt or toy, but I feel like I’ll be correcting that in the coming weeks. I have my Rogue One socks as my only wearable Star Wars things ever, but I feel like I’m this close to getting a shirt.
