They will be Dish Network 311 > TiVo Series2 > Ethernet > PC > TMPGEnc > DVD conversions
AND I have also set my PVR510 to record them. Even though funds are short in the ole' Blaksvn House I will TRY to buy a stand-alone set top DVD recorder so I can record them without having to re-encode the video... (or if anyone wants to loan me theirs to do the transfers ) - EITHER way I will keep them on my PVR510's HD until I do get a recorder - I will also upload these via torrent (myspleen my soon go bye-bye) or with the help from the THE DARK ONE.
Coming Soon to the "The Blaksvn Archive Collection"

I'm meeting up with some local Star Wars friends tomorrow and I'm just now putting the finishing touches on a DVD that I call...
"The Revenge Will Be Televised, Vol. 1"
included: the Star Wars Cinematech episode the Star Wars TRL episode assorted Star Wars commercials
Everything is capped, editted, and encoded...I just have to finish the menu.
I'll also be posting it over at alt.binaries.starwars probably tomorrow
I actually hooked the DVR directly to my cap card using composite-in and record using iuVCR with the huffyuv codec. It went really well, I just had to trim and edit, do a deinterlace, and run the finished videos through TMPGenc
My DVR is gonna get a workout. I'll be making more to follow...
oh, I also had Hayden on Leno...but I just despise Jay Leno so I had to delete it.
and sitting through TRL was a punishment I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.
One further note...Comcast uses LOTS of compression. I can see digital artifacts clearly in my HDTV (although the picture looks fine in the 4:3 in the bedroom) on everything but actual HD broadcasts. Since none (except some of the commercials) of these programs were in HD, I actually had to run sharpen and denoise filters on the raw video to clean it up...that just sucks.
Rik, is there any way to bypass and/or shut off the compression that the cable company uses or is it sent to the house already compressed? I figured if anyone would know it would be you. TIA
Sorry for the short notice: US : 5/14 : 12 noon : MSNBC : MSNBC at the Movies (repeats 5pm) Might have an interview with George (very short, standard interview questions, a 5 minutes segment and a few mentions else where in the program) ERRR turns out next weeks program is a full hour of RotS coverage... so US : 5/21 : 12 noon : MSNBC : MSNBC at the Movies - RotS Special
If you want some really braindead segments: US : 5/14 : 6pm : E! : in their """"news"""" show, they have a """"discussion"""" between one of the hosts and Chewbacca, it's as if they reincarnated the people who made the Holiday Special. for those who love to watch SW Hate, this is the segment for you, they choose to not get it, and then flaunt that mentality. US : 5/14 : FoxNews : all morning in their programing they've had SW related content, "Stock Wars" and some shit 'facts' on Cashin' In. US : 5/14 : 9am : CBSNews : did segments from the NYC Ziegfeld line. mind numbing horrendous schlock.
If anyone gets French Newscasts, they may have something SW. the C3 of Europe happens in Paris this weekend. Anyone know when the Osaka SW convention is?

- Sadly, that's the best you'll get from cable as only a small number of the channels are really digital (premium only really + HD) most Cable Companies "Basic and Expanded/Extended Basic" service packages (MTV is normally ANALOG) are all analog (OTA) but even with "Digital Cable" the analog channels are still ANALOG even though you have a "Digital" DVR/cable box (D Cable customers being jiltted as they are TOLD it is all Digital) - so it MAY not be digital just standard cable (you'll need to call your provider to verify this) so that is why your getting the dirty picture.
- Dishnetwork, DTV or VOOM is what you really want to get (my cable bill and Dish bill combined is still less then the same digital package that comcast offers here )
I have basic cable lined direct into the TV as an input and the HD DVR as another input...when I need to watch an analog channel (for some college games usually) I watch the input with the cable lined direct into the TV because if I watch it through the box there are actually compression "halos" around the players when there are long-distance shots.
I'll be moving soon so I'll probably switch to dish after I do.

greencapt, I wish you luck on the HD 16x9 transfers. They've just broadcast the first Science Of Star Wars here in the UK and they were broadcast in 14x9 cropped. IDIOTS! If you need any help with a DVD transfer, let me know!
I just watched this weeks Best Week Ever on VH1. It had a whole segment about Star Wars, and it was pretty funny. I didn't record it though, and I don't know when or if it'll be replayed.

Yes I'm interested in this as well. Maybe a 2 or 3(or more)-Disc set entitled Episode III Hype? I'm very interested in getting anything involving my favorite movie of all time. So Inside The Actor's Studios,Entertainment Tonights/Access Hollywoods/E!s,and other Specials & News Broadcasts. Email TNAJason@hotmail.com
If you have comcast on demand you can watch the Biography on George Lucas whenever. Just go to the Cable favorites -> A&E -> Biography -> George Lucas. It's only going to be there until 07/05 though.
Did anyone who saw the 3 "Science of Star Wars" specials on Discovery HD notice anything cool? (I have all 3 and am authoring some DVD to distribute on alt.binaries.starwars)
That's right...there were clips of eps. I, II, IV, V, and VI... In Hi-Def!
The quality of these brief shots was simply breathtaking...I can't wait for the entire SW saga in HD!
If someone does an Episode III compilation, is there any chance they'll have all the commercials as well? I love the one with Vader and the Burger King guy having the breathing contest and it would be great to get it on a disc along with some of the other good Ep3 ads.
