I’m looking to add the “limited edition” OT DVDs to my collection. I bought the boxset back in 2004 when it first came out, so when they re-released it two years later with the original theatrical versions, I skipped those as I had just spent money on the DVDs.

But years later, and seeing scalpers asking more and more for them, I figured it would be nice to own a set.

I’m seeing a couple listings on eBay for the complete Limited Edition trilogy, which comes with an outer box similar to what the 2004 set had. It’s not the same as the 2004 art, as that was all silver.

I’m not sure if these were ever official or not, or if they’re bootlegs. I only recall seeing them sold individually in stores, not as a set.

I see this set on eBay, which has an outer box. I thought it looked real enough, but then I also came across THIS one, which has a prequel trilogy as well - that’s almost assuredly a bootleg, because of the fact they’re all in crappy DVD cases without chapter inserts. That’s a pretty obvious sign.

Can anyone confirm whether or not there was ever a GOUT Trilogy sold, or if any that have that outer box are bootlegs?
