UFO's & other anomalies ... do you believe?

Author
Time

This thread is for the actual real discussion of UFO’s or UAP’s as they are now categorized due to Nick Pope, a retired employee of the UK Ministry of Defense.

This is NOT a thread for some of you (you know who you are) to come in, heckle folks, and run.

Rule#6 is in full effect here.

This is not a paranormal thread. No talk about ghosts and hauntings. We can make a separate thread for that if there is interest.

Here you can talk about UFO’s, Bigfoot, Alien Abductions, NASA footage and pictures that seem to show unexplained things. Have you seen something or had an experience in these areas that you cannot explain? Share it here.

I repeat, Rule#6 is in full effect here. NO taking to other threads to heckle people posting in this thread either.

There is overwhelming evidence all over the world that something odd is happening in our skies. It cannot all be explained away as experimental aircraft from a Black Budget project that cannot be discussed or acknowledged.

Hey, alright! UFO stuff, cool. I have seen a couple strange anomalies in the sky that I cannot explain, only speculate:
1: a couple years ago on a cloudy spring or fall night I saw circular lights ABOVE the cloud cover, there were about 6 of them spinning around casting their light down on the clouds (you could tell it was from above the clouds and not coming from the ground by how the shadows were being cast), it was like if you took a basketball and cut 6 holes around its equator and stuck a light inside it and spun the ball, that was how the light was being cast, it could have been something mounted to the bottom of a helicopter but I didn’t hear a helicopter, though earlier in the day I did see a helicopter in around the same spot as where these lights were (it wasn’t clouded over yet in the day) and it was just hovering there.
2: while being driven to a friends house on a clear night I saw what looked to be a constellation of stars moving separately from the rest of the stars that were visible, we were on a highway going about 60/80 kph and it looked to be going maybe 40 kilometers faster but in a slightly different direction, it was not a reflection, I saw this for a couple minutes before we went around a bend and I lost sight of it. I don’t think it could have been one big object because no stars were being blocked out as it passed, I suppose it could have been satellites moving in formation, I think it had a bit of gradual curve to its direction like it wasn’t flying in a perfectly strait line.

Cool stories.

When I was but a lad my Uncle had taken me outside to watch a meteor shower. I was looking in a southerly direction. The sky was very clear, only little cloud puffs here and there. About 15 minutes in to waiting we saw a ball of light (I don’t know that it was truly circular because it was very bright). It slowly moved in the sky, moved behind a small puff of cloud, and disappeared. I waited for 30 minutes for that thing to come out but it never did.

The only clue I had was a news report later that suggested a satellite had fallen out of a decayed orbit. What I saw never hit the ground and I saw nothing to suggest it was burning up due to re-entry through the atmosphere.

I can’t say that I am believer, but I did just watch Contact again. And if we know anything, it’s that anything is possible…

I’ve never seen a UFO. However, I firmly believe in them. The idea that in all the vastness of space we are the only sentient life to me seems absurd, and I also have no trouble believing they’ve been here.

Thanks, very interesting article. It reminded me of my only experience with a UAP that I’ll try to describe:

I was on the Big Island (Hawaii) and a buddy and I were laying on the roof of a structure staring into the sky, admiring the blanket of stars that attracts astronomers from around the planet (Mauna Kea has some of the most advanced telescopes and sensors in the world). We were at 6400’ above sea level on the plateau between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa. We saw some shooting stars, planes and things that looked like satellites passing by overhead. Then one of the small moving lights which I was following suddenly got intensely bright, for perhaps 10-12 seconds, then dimmed and continued on its way.

It was bizarre because we both noticed it and we couldn’t figure out what it might be. Certainly not a comet (too slow), shooting star (too slow) or plane (too high up). Before it got bright it just looked like a little star moving across the sky and I assumed it was a satellite. I’ve never seen a satellite get bright like that before.

I don’t know if extraterrestrial life has visited this planet, but I have and always will believe that there is life elsewhere in the universe. I think the chances are much smaller that there isn’t other life, given the size of the system. I’ll never know what that bright light was but it certainly made for good conversation.

Do I believe other sapient species exist out there in the universe? Yes. Do I believe they have interstellar travel and have visited Earth? I’m doubtful.

I am happy to see this thread being received and treated so well. I know we all love Star Wars in some form or another and folks might think that because of that it isn’t such a leap for us to believe in UAP’s and such. It has never been as simple as that and is always dependent on the experience and the person having it.

This.

And I am twice as doubtful that they’ve visited Earth and the government has been able to cover it up.

Yes, exactly. This is my main issue with the idea that they’ve visited earth.

For them to have made the great trip here they would have to either A) live extremely long lives, much longer than anything on earth or B) invented faster-than-light travel, which is a monstrous obstacle.

On the other hand, any civilization which is capable of FTL travel would almost certainly be able to conceal themselves from us somehow. Maybe some of the UFO/UAP encounters out there are instances of them making a mistake and allowing themselves to be detected. Generally, I tend to default to the simplest explanation- they’ve never been here because we’re too damn far and we ain’t worth visiting.

Which reminds of the notion that if extraterrestrials ever did come here it would mean the end of humanity because they’d be here to strip our resources away. Please… any species that can accomplish interstellar travel doesn’t need the stuff we have.

Why does Bigfoot have to ride the UFO train?

Where were you in '77?

I thought it was because they’re only menial workers in the Alpha Draconian Slave Empire.

yeah. I think the same logical consideration of the odds that would lead one to believe that other life probably exists, somewhere, would also lead you to believe that it is so staggeringly unlikely that we will ever meet it.

but who knows, humans are always learning that they were wrong about the things they used to be so ignorantly sure of.

Yeah, that clip is hilarious…love some classic South Park. We watched it as part of our home school curriculum and I asked my daughters about that very thing.

Um…what?

what what

What we watched Contact or what I like South Park?

Jedit 2.0: it seemed clear in my head, but I get the confusion…sorry

I think that somewhere waaaaayyyyyyy out there, a species could have interstellar travel, maybe even better than ours, but they’re too far away for us to meet yet. I’m hopeful we won’t go extinct before meeting them or other aliens, because I definitely think it will happen someday (if humans live long enough). I don’t expect to meet any in my lifetime, however, or for my children or their children to meet any, but someday some human(s) will.

I am also a firm believer in Sasquatch. I have seen a variety of evidence presented from very respectable people in the Anthropology field that just doesn’t have any human or known animal explanation.

Sasquatch isn’t paranormal and discussion on it is allowed in the thread. Or are you just saying you believe paranormal stuff isn’t real?
