I don’t know, Obi-Wan igniting first never really bothered me. New Obi-Wan igniting lightsaber scene looks a lot better than the original. I mean, sure Ady-Wan could have rearrange those scenes to make sure Vader ignites first and that would have been the best of both worlds, but guys, lets face it, original lightsaber fight sucked anyway. Do to technical limitations at the time, it is both inconsistent with the OT and it doesn’t make much sense in the first place. There isn’t much fighting going on and it mostly looks like Darth Vader is holding back for no reason whatsoever. So the way I see it, there is nothing you can do to it that will ruin it or make it worse than it already is.

I mean, there is minimal movement of the lightsabers (because at the time if they moved it too fast, it wouldn’t glow properly), both actors move very awkwardly (again, do to technical limitations at the time) and Obi-Wan Kenobi just spins around for no reason whatsoever. (mostly do to bad editing)

With that spinning part, that scene should have ended like this:

I think this kind of works better:

I mean, Obi-Wan might be weak do to age, but he doesn’t have to look ridiculous.

Also, I don’t know if it can be used, but in “Star Wars Featurette: The Birth of the Lightsaber” (starting from 3:05) there is an unused footage of the same fighting scene from a different angle. Maybe that could be useful in the future…

Any improvement to that scene would go a long way.
