F8 certainly doesn’t deserve the record but at least it’s a good movie.
Good ? Well, if you think so… TFOTF (aka FF8) is so dumb it gets unwatchable (the opening scene is fun though). Even Theron is a very terrible vilain (who wrote her endless stupid monologues ?). The rip off of Hard Boiled was quite confusing as well. Fast Five is way better and still is the best of the series. At least FF8 is not as arrogant as FF6.
I’m not saying it’s the best one. I don’t know how anyone in their right mind could call it unwatchable because if it’s anything it’s watchable. It’s dumb yes but very aware of that fact. Theron is pretty silly but she plays it up well (even if her character doesn’t really go anywhere).
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull got criticized for being ridiculously over the top, self-aware, and cartoonish at times.
Why do you think F&F gets away with it when other movies don’t?
Because those weren’t the reasons why KOTCS didn’t work?
