This seems like kind of a big deal.

The FBI obtained a secret court order last summer to monitor the communications of an adviser to presidential candidate Donald Trump, part of an investigation into possible links between Russia and the campaign, law enforcement and other U.S. officials said.

The FBI and the Justice Department obtained the warrant targeting Carter Page’s communications after convincing a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court judge that there was probable cause to believe Page was acting as an agent of a foreign power, in this case Russia, according to the officials.

This is the clearest evidence so far that the FBI had reason to believe during the 2016 presidential campaign that a Trump campaign adviser was in touch with Russian agents. Such contacts are now at the center of an investigation into whether the campaign coordinated with the Russian government to swing the election in Trump’s favor.

President Trump has been lying all along don’tcha know. There were no names to unmask because this didn’t happen.

Embattled Fox News host Bill O’Reilly announced tonight that he is taking a vacation. O’Reilly’s decision to go off the air in the midst of a sexual harassment scandal and advertiser boycott arguably has the appearance of a suspension, but O’Reilly worked to dispel that notion. He announced that he’d scheduled his trip “last fall” — well before the New York Times reported he paid $13 million to settle harassment claims. A Fox News spokesperson confirmed O’Reilly will return on April 24.

But according to four network sources, there’s talk inside Fox News that tonight’s show could be his last. Lawyers for the law firm Paul, Weiss, hired last summer by 21st Century Fox to investigate Roger Ailes, are currently doing a “deep dive” investigation into O’Reilly’s behavior. They’re focused now on sexual harassment claims by O’Reilly guest Wendy Walsh after she reported her claims via the company’s anonymous hotline.

The funny thing is that his ratings are up. I should be surprised that people like sexual harassers, but then again we elected a pussy grabber as President.

All sides have been determined to have used chemical weapons in Syria. Including the U.S. backed rebels. Yes, even Assad’s regime too. But the mainstream U.S. media is only interested in pushing a narrative. Anything that doesn’t support that narrative isn’t going to get reported, although the NYT did offer one brief retraction iirc.

Speaking of which, the Clintonites have their pitchforks out for Tulsi Gabbard of all people. Failed political practitioner Neera Tanden and disgraced former governor Howard Dean both calling for her to resign from Congress, all because she asked for caution and an investigation into recent events in Syria before taking military action.

Iraq. WMDs. Any of this ring a bell?

These Clinton schmucks are the absolute worst.

Some people also love to watch an unfolding train wreck. O’Reilly’s tv career is probably toast either way.

Bye bye fake Russian narrative … 😃

Decent analysis here:

http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/news/a54457/carter-page-fisa-warrant-fbi/

The question of “who leaked this?” is actually pretty salient. There’s no doubt this has been a leaky administration with a leaky congress, but the leaks have generally been selected to support their narrative. This one, though? It actively and brutally undermines several administration narratives simultaneously: that Obama ordered surveillance rather than letting law enforcement follow their own legal procedures (this leak supports the latter), and that there’s nothing to the Russia story, rather then enough to convince a court (twice) that not only was there probable cause that a crime was committed, but also that the target was acting as an agent of a foreign government (this leak supports the latter in surprising detail).

Unfortunately, there’s no shortage of conspiracy theories that this can’t still be worked into, as I’m sure it will. It could easily still be pinned on the Illuminati Elders of Zion Secret Obama Shadow World Government Run From a Surfboard in Hawaii That’s Linked via HAARP Signals to His Underground Volcano Lair and His Bald Cat.

For those hoping Bannon is just an exception, or that the white supremacist faction is somehow losing influence in the Bannon-Kushner drama, I have some bad news. Jon Feere and Julie Kirschner have both been tapped for high-level advisory positions within DHS. They both have significant history with and membership in white-supremacist-linked hate groups (CIS and FAIR, specifically).

Mr. Spicer deserves far more credit than this crap. He realized his own mistake AND he used the word “sorry” dozens of times since this incident. The Administration he works under hasn’t even said it that many times, if any, so to lump him in the crowd is unfair. I personally believe he’s one of the few that just wants to do the best job he can do.

I’m not digging on you FF, just the meme.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer has apologized more than once for falsely saying that Adolf Hitler, who killed millions of Jews in gas chambers, didn’t “sink to using chemical weapons.”

He apologized Tuesday evening, telling CNN’s Wolf Blitzer that making a distinction between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s alleged use of the nerve agent sarin on his citizens and what Hitler did was a “mistake.”

Spicer apologized again Wednesday morning at the Newseum: “I let the president down. … This was mine to own, mine to apologize for. Mine to ask forgiveness for.” He called his comments “inexcusable and reprehensible.”

But the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect, an organization named after the young Holocaust victim, isn’t buying it.

Steven Goldstein, a longtime critic of President Trump and executive director of the center, said a sincere apology should have happened sooner — not hours later after an avalanche of criticism had dominated social media.

“Here’s why the apology holds no consequences. It took Sean Spicer three attempts yesterday to get his apology right. Three separate attempts,” Goldstein said. “That’s the problem with this administration. It takes a public outcry to get the Trump administration, including Spicer, to do the right thing and apologize.”

“It’s pathetic,” he added. “When you tell me that Sean Spicer apologized, I’d say, ‘Why does it take so many iterations for him to get it right?’ ”

Wow, maybe Obamacare will blow up after all:

The question is, is there any way to maintain this level of negligence without looking like you were trying to sabotage the marketplace. I suspect the “plausible” half of “plausible deniability” is already off the table.

EDIT: The US Chamber of Commerce of all people is begging them to do their jobs, for goodness sakes!

Oh silly me, thinking that sabotaging access to healthcare for millions through negligence would be the sort of thing you’d want to hide, not gloat about. I was taking that “faithfully execute” part of the oath of office so literally:

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2017/04/trump-i-may-sabotage-obamacare-until-democrats-repeal-it.html

Nice health care system you got there. It’d be a shame if something were to happen to it.

The thing is, for this particular grift to work, he will still need to propose a replacement plan that kicks fewer people off healthcare than he would kick off through market sabotage, and I haven’t seen any indications anything like that’s even being considered–so in that sense, it’s more of a spite move than actual leverage (which doesn’t make it less plausible, I’m afraid). But if the goal is simply to retake control of the headlines for a while, I’d say it’s a better plan than forgetting that the Holocaust happened, or hiring even more white supremacists.
