Going back to the original quote from Lucas, I feel the need to point out that when the original films came out, it wasn't just the "under 20" crowd who embraced them. People of all ages enjoyed the films and saw them again and again and...

The Prequels, whilst having a lot in them to like, just aren't of the same calibre of the OT. Lucas is a great storyteller, but he can't write dialogue. He just can't. His actors also have the unenviable task of performing on a bluescreen set, sometimes without the other actors in the scene. I'm an actor and I can tell you that part of what helps me really give a good performance is being able to play off of the environment and the other actors in the scene. That's part of why the Prequels seem so emotionally sterile. Kids don't notice things like that, but most adults do. That's why there seems to be such a generation gap when it comes to favorite trilogies. I guarantee you that history will not be kind to the Prequels, whereas the OT could last forever if ol' Georgie would just leave well enough alone. A good movie is a good movie forever.
