I’ve finished making it through four long seasons of Ronald D. Moore’s Battlestar Galactica. I was quite satisfied when it came to an end. Wonderful show, though I hated the cinematography every minute of it. If only they had let him make Voyager like this, but then again, he probably wouldn’t have made this if that happened.

I still wish the original was better. I like it a lot, but it can be rather shallow and downright silly a lot of the time.

Yeah, Moore had stated that Voyager should’ve embodied the Year of Hell storyline themes right from the start. His reboot of BSG is a rare case where the original source material is well and truly surpassed.

Speaking of which, during the early 80s I had BSG: The Movie on VHS and wore the tape right out. In recent years I purchased the German Koch Blu-ray box set and although I enjoyed the nostalgia of watching Saga of a Star World, much of the subsequent series, with the retrospect of adult eyes, feels cringeworthy and toned down to probably appease the TV network. The only episodes I’d probably re-watch are of course, the pilot and the Galatica 1980 standout, The Return of Starbuck

Most recent web series: The Man in the High Castle - which I absolutely loved and I’m looking forward to the next season.
