Yep. I know someone somewhere will (and has I think) write a textbook on the specific differences, but it all boils down to:

comic books = manga

animation = anime

and- LOL- DON'T get the pronunciation debate started! I managed a comic book/anime store for several years and had to listen to the "it's pronounced MON-GUH" arguement way too many times...
