I have the above mentioned DVD player, and for the price you pay its actually a pretty good player. It has played any dvd ive thrown at it so far (and yes I have played pal discs, babyhum's releases, with it). There is also a very easy 'hack' that will allow it to be region free (I dont have a link to the instructions but it can be easily found on google).
