What I find truly frightening is that the more I think about the whole Lucas situation and the more I watch some of the great old documentaries on the OT, the more I find myself thinking that George is only a few steps away from falling off the same 'emotional ly troubled billionaire' pier that Michael Jackson fell off of. Perhaps he just can't handle the pressure or the power, but I feel truly sad for the guy. I can't believe that Star Wars itself broke him like this; I'm sure he has problems and issues that we have no way of knowing nor do we have a right to. But instead of dragging us down with him by pissing on everything that made him great (which also destroys whatever integrity as a filmmaker he had hoped to build) I wish he had just chosen to do what he did with things like the novels or the 'Clone Wars' cartoon- pass the torch to more capable (if not more talented) hands. He is and will always be the father and creator of Star Wars. He didn't need to prove that. We all know it. Instead he chooses to act like a snotty, bully-ish little kid in his attitude towards his creations and those who gave him what he has.

Wasn't he the overly dedicated 34 year old filmmaker who made Star Wars? I wish we could remind him of those days. In a way, I'm glad the films are almost over. I'm almost starting to feel that he should just walk away from all of it entirely- no more re-releases, re-edits, petitions, etc. I don't know... maybe I'm just feeling MY age now.

Any under-25 year olds want to comment? Is Lucas correct to your minds?
