Yeah, I’ll just rent it from Red Box when it comes out and hope it’s periodically in some machines in the coming months.

I’m gonna go with “wait for the inevitable superior double-dip.”

That was gonna be my response too, but I’m pretty eager to get to editing on this one. It’ll be the first fanedit I put online. And while I’d love some deleted material to go through and possibly add, my edit will be fairly simple. Just removing and switching around a few things.

Looking forward to seeing what you fan editors come up with - obviously a shame there are no deleted/alternative scenes etc yet - but there are a fair few in the trailers and promos which may be of use for certain shots or ideas etc.

I’ll be going for the cheap UK dvd - and then get hold of a decent fan-made cover for it to replace the fairly awful official dvd cover - or may just lazily use this:-

Very bummed about the lack of deleted and alternate scenes, I love making extended cuts in my spare time and assumed there’d be massive amounts to work with for R1.
Even though they tried (and failed) to make the TFA ones unusable at least we got something.
I have a feeling a lot of the film was re-shot and Lucasfilm doesn’t want us knowing the extent of it, but who knows.

Cameos. Quotes. Sometimes we love them, sometimes we cringe. Because inserting MTFBWY every now and then can make us sick, and winking to the viewer one too many time may make us roll our eyes in irritation.

Master level of quoting? Rogue One.

In the middle of a climax, the super-important message from Galen is breaking up and it’s cut short!
But every lover of Star Wars, who had seen ANH a hundred of times knows that last sentence by heart.

I nearly shouted it out in the cinema, sitting on the edge of the seat, as if I hoped to tell Jyn what were Galen’s last instructions.
Oh, and use proton torpedos, dammit!

This is to all the people who say R1 is just nostalgia-exploitation and “ayteeaytees”.

I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

Just saw a Lego commercial for Rogue One playsets, and it’s hilarious how they ignore the pesky issue of Jyn and Cassian dying in the movie. 😉

At least Moroff gets a bigger part.

Wait. Did they say you can use a Y-Wing to “bomb the fucker” ??

Sold.

Unsurprisingly, blu ray rips of Rogue One have leaked in the usual places.

I’m perfectly fine with “nostalgia-exploitation” if it feels genuine and I’m reasonably confident that the people behind it share the same nostalgia, and therefore put a lot of effort into making it good. The newest two films hit that for me, TFA for bringing back the characters and sense of adventure I love, R1 for diving deep into the “lore” and mining out some gems to put in the movie.

Why on earth can’t I preorder the Blu-ray on Amazon yet? They’ll let you preorder the streaming version, but it says the disc is unavailable. I think I remember preordering TFA in January. What gives?

Weird, it’s available on Amazon here. What I don’t understand is why there are so many US artwork versions and here it’s the awful black triangle with floating heads or nothing.

I like the black triangle art (it’s a star destroyer). But I think it’s only the slip cover and the regular art underneath.

There’s a Zavi exclusive Steelbook that’s the same as the Best Buy version.

Best Film? And Actress? Jesus Christ, I liked Rogue One but I think that is a little much.

Aye, I thought Ken Loach would get the Best Director for ‘I, Daniel Blake’.

For Best Film it was against Hunt For The Wilderpeople, Arrival, La La Land, & Deadpool

For Best Actress, Felicity Jones was up against Natalie Portman (Jackie), Amy Adams (Arrival), Ruth Negga (Loving), Emma Stone (La La Land).

Good to see Rogue One pick up some awards and get some love - though I don’t really take these awards too seriously - often it’s one country favouring its own film industry over another country.

Although for the Empire Awards it is it’s own readers who vote for the winners.

The fact Rogue One is even being considered for awards is a testament to Disney’s ability to put Star Wars back on course. Almost any love Rogue One gets is cool in my book.

Disney can make ANYTHING win an award, even the highest honor. When an animated movie as bad as Zootopia wins againts the great Kubo and the two strings, “love” is irrelevant…

(best actress, seriously… best film, come on…, best director… well, that I can understand)

(and WTF are Empire awards anyway, it’s an online video game magazine ?!? It’s 12 yo kids giving awards to movies ? Dude…)
