Since none (except some of the commercials) of these programs were in HD, I actually had to run sharpen and denoise filters on the raw video to clean it up...that just sucks.

Rik, is there any way to bypass and/or shut off the compression that the cable company uses or is it sent to the house already compressed? I figured if anyone would know it would be you. TIA

- Sadly, that's the best you'll get from cable as only a small number of the channels are really digital (premium only really + HD) most Cable Companies "Basic and Expanded/Extended Basic" service packages (MTV is normally ANALOG) are all analog (OTA) but even with "Digital Cable" the analog channels are still ANALOG even though you have a "Digital" DVR/cable box (D Cable customers being jiltted as they are TOLD it is all Digital) - so it MAY not be digital just standard cable (you'll need to call your provider to verify this) so that is why your getting the dirty picture.

- Dishnetwork, DTV or VOOM is what you really want to get (my cable bill and Dish bill combined is still less then the same digital package that comcast offers here )
