I’m not saying it wasn’t necessary to have it in a new hope. What I’m saying is us having to wait until we get passed anakin and hear anakins old friend as an elder explaining it to his son is kinda cool. I’m saying having to wonder about it for three movies and then finally get to find out more about it was a neat idea, if only the first three movies had been done better. Do I think it was intentional? Of course not, the prequels were not that intensely thought out. But that lone isolated element of the prequels works for me, even if it doesn’t everybody else.
