That a documentary made in 2004 wasn’t shot in HD, (if only to future proof it) is weird.

Are you kidding? There were tv shows back then not filmed in HD, nevermind a silly documentary.

Shows shot on videotape, sure. Again, the industry knew HD was around the corner. Unless those involved thought a comprehensive doc about Star Wars and it’s impact on the world was an ephemeral project.

You consider EOD silly?

Absolutely. It was crap. Really didn’t tell us anything that we didn’t know.

I consider this viewpoint silly. We aren’t a monolithic fanbase, and EOD was the first SW documentary I watched. It told me plenty I didn’t know and showed my lots of footage I hadn’t seen. It got progressively worse as it went along (especially the very end where it turned into a Lucas-is-great lovefest), but I found it captivating for the most part.

Since when is the Star Wars fan base NOT monolithic?!

I just proved it isn’t. And there were a lot more people like me than people like you when this came out. That’s probably still the case.

No fan base is monolithic. You can’t find me a single one that is.

Here’s another example…how many people care about the EU? How many have read a single book or comic? 0%? 100%?

And because you hadn’t watched the other available documentaries, that proves that you were an uneducated consumer. That’s exactly who they were marketing this to.

Yep. That doesn’t make EOD crap, it just makes it crap for you.

Like the Indy docs, the only saving grace was the new “original” footage, be it behind the scenes or outtakes. Otherwise, the interviews were just recycled stories.

Recycled for you.
