The fact that this forum was seemingly made to get the Out
re released on a decent format reaffirms for me that there will only ever be 3, true star wars films. The rest are ‘cover’ versions.

that all the other films never happened.

If only this was true. I think any classic film(s) should be protected. I’d hate to see another Godfather for example. I’m dreading Blade Runner 2!

“Protected” from sequels? Ehhhh…I will argue that films should be preserved, regardless of quality. Ex., the prequels’ original cuts, hell I’d even defend shit like the Super Mario Bros Movie (which I’m still waiting for a region-free bluray of).

However, sequels/remakes should be fair game. It’s up to the filmmakers whether it’s good or not, if it is, well no complaints here. If it’s bad…just let it fade out of existence like most shit films. For instance, the Ghostbusters reboot. If all that hate boner-ism wasn’t built up around it, it would’ve came and gone, the only impression left being Ecto Cooler and an awful Rotten Tomatoes score. Oh wait, that’s already happening. So much for all that time, energy, and vitriol all it’s detractors poured into it.

So remaking Psycho, shot for shot is okay? Copies of masterpiece paintings are called fakes! Is film not art?

Is remaking The Maltese Falcon okay? 😉

Well, it is the stuff dreams are made of.

Nightmares more like. What’s next it’s a wonderful life 2017

I hope to rank them:

Rian Johnson is a superior writer to JJ Abrams so I have hope that the flaws of TFA will be countered by TLJ and IX. TFA may turn out to be an excellent part I to the trilogy if they tie it together right. We shall see.

Now, can we get back to TLJ spoilers instead of getting so off track.

THIS

My biggest hope is that Rian makes it so Luke is actually doing something on Ahch-To. Also while we’re at it let’s give Snoke a new design and let’s make the state of the Galaxy post TFA be crystal clear. Now more than ever am I interested in the state of the Galaxy so not only do I want to know what it is I also want instability in the Galaxy (perhaps on both sides) to be an integral part of the plot. Sophisticated machinations in order to seize power, actions made out of pure desperation, morally ambiguous actions, people leading the blind etc. would be interesting to see in these films.

Disney made 2 billion dollars safe playing a movie that everyone lapped up.
Why on earth would they try to do anything legitimately new with VIII?
I can’t say I fault them from a business perspective but I do get a good chuckle every time someone thinks there’s a chance they’re going to do something radical and brilliant with the story.

From what I’ve heard Looper is a very interesting movie so if anything we should be getting a “radical” film. Though whether it will be a well written film is another matter entirely

He also directed ‘Fly’ from Breaking Bad, which, boiled down, is essentially just two men trapped in a room with a fly stretched out for an hour, and it turned out to be one of the best episodes of the entire series.

What, a man builds a giant mound of dirt in his house and you aren’t entertained?

Fly is pretty controversial, but he also directed Ozymandias which is almost universally seen as one of the best episodes.

I really liked Looper, the only big problems with it IMO stemmed from the time-travel aspect, which is to be expected.

What!? You need to watch it, seriously. It’s the best last season of any TV show ever.

Eh, I’ve watched the first few episodes and never felt compelled to finish it. Season 4 ended perfectly with an amazing build-up, climax, and one of the most satisfying resolutions in any TV series. From what I’ve seen of Season 5, it just felt kinda forced and unnecessary, and a total mood killer after binging the first 4.

As great as the Season 4 finale was you don’t want to see how the overall story ends?

From what I remember of the spoilers, essentially everyone dies iirc, so yeah, meh.
