Did you like Christopher Reeves as Superman and any of those movies?
I love those movies especially the fourth one 😄
Yeah, the 4th is fun too. I especially like the 3rd one with Richard Pryor. It makes watching Office Space, that much more enjoyable.
“Oldies” rap wasn’t what I needed to force myself to enjoy, I already enjoyed it. The two most prominent artists in my playlist are Mos Def and Nate Dogg.
The rap that I needed to force myself to like is the new stuff, and I’ve definitely found things to enjoy that are new. But at the same time, I’ve found a lot of lyrically uninspired garbage, yet I still find myself listening to it.
I’m glad to hear that Kendrick Lamar is in the studio working on his Senior. What the shit ever happened to the J.Cole collab?
EDIT:
Also Alien Covenant looks…interesting. In no way am I getting my hopes up because Prometheus while decent was pretty goddamn disappointing.

Don’t think I’ve listened to anything new since J5’s last track came out years ago, and the disappointing Event 2 by Deltron 3030. I deliberately avoid most artists I hear about in the media, as the radio/MTV version of hip-hop hasn’t been a version I’ve enjoyed since the early 90s. That said, it has also been a long time since I’ve searched out any newer stuff. Any suggestions you may have (not the lyrically uninspired garbage you mention obviously) would be welcomed.
After a quick Google search, here are some rappers I have heard of but never (knowingly) listened to:
Jay Z
Kanye West
Drake
Lil Wayne
Kendrick Lamar
Nicki Minaj
J. Cole
50 Cent
Puff Daddy/Diddy whatever
DMX
Ludacris
Wiz Khalifa
Fat Joe
Young Jeezy
Lupe Fiasco
Big Pun
Quite a few “popular rappers” in the the search I’ve never heard of too.
Of the ones in that list, I think Kendrick and J. Cole are pretty good. Not a big fan of Drake, but he’s undoubtedly very popular. I don’t listen to Kanye very much, but he’s got a few songs that I do enjoy.
I was kinda hoping for stuff that wasn’t on the list ;)
Tyr, if you have any more suggestions I’d like to hear those too!

Gotcha. I agree with Tyr about MF DOOM, he’s got a very smooth and laidback flow. He reminds me a bit of Biggie. Only problem is that if you’re using Spotify it’s pretty hard to find his stuff since he’s gone by so many different names.
Hip-hop and rap have changed a lot in a short amount of time, even stuff from 2007 sounds noticeably different from modern rap. It’s entirely possible that a fan of old rap won’t enjoy any new rap. I guess I’ll just post some stuff that I like, no guarantee that you will too;
P’s & Q’s by Mick Jenkins. The song is a gimmick, really, but it’s a cool gimmick that showcases Jenkins’ writing abilities. Around 110 instances of the letter P and 23 of the letter Q.
Gang Related by Logic. A story told from the dual perspectives of young Logic and his older brother and how they view gang culture.
Average Joe by Kendrick Lamar. Another commentary on gang culture from the perspective of Kendrick, an “average Joe.”
Letter to the Free by Common. Political song about the state of black America, even if you don’t agree with the message or have no idea what he’s talking about, I think it sounds good.
Let Nas Down by J Cole. A true story about the aftermath of J Cole’s first hit song.
if you have any more suggestions I’d like to hear those too!
Five-to-seven seasons is the longest any TV series should run. Eight-to-ten is pushing things a little too far. Eleven and up? That’s when you know zombification has set in.
There are always exceptions.
Where were you in '77?
There are always exceptions.
The exception:
No, in fact that’s the perfect example!
There are always exceptions.
I’m still enjoying Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which is now up to Season 12.
Sure The Simpsons isn’t what it used to be, but it still has its moments.
“Still has its moments” is a low bar. I’ve seen a few Family Guy clips that made me chuckle, and that show sucks.

I tend to agree, but you won’t get far with that sentiment here. I think it really went downhill mid-season 11, right about the time they killed off Maude and Brad Bird left the show, but I’m still watching. I’m pretty sure it’s not cool to like anything after season 9 around these parts.
I still watch it too.

That was my exact thought when I read that post as well. The cast just has a wonderful chemistry and I never tire of watching then yell at each other.

I stopped playing that once the jerk referred to Jesus as his n-word.

What about Doctor Who?

I think you’re taking it way too seriously.
I don’t like people using the n-word, I definitely don’t like white people doing so, and I especially don’t like any person using the n-word in a reference to Jesus Christ. Sorry, but that is the way it is.
