First Movie Seen

My first movie seen in the cinema was :

It came out in 1974 but I get the feeling that I must have seen a reissue in 1976 as Star Wars was my second film.
My uncle Ray’s girlfriend Rose took me and we came in half way through and watched the beginning after the end.
I was a bit dissappointed because somehow I got it into my head that Cinema was like television but on all four walls.
I had a red apple which was given to me on the bus there rather than any cinema bought snacks.

I can’t remember what movie I first saw in the cinema. I’ll bet it was some sort of kids movie. Maybe one the Disney full length animated movies.

Flash Gordon, E.T., Raiders, The Muppet Movie…whichever came out first…I think.

I know that my first in the theater was Toy Story, but only because my mom told me years later. Too young to remember that, not really sure what was the first I remember (or the first I watched at home), but that’s a hazy concept anyway.

My dad took me to Star Trek The Motion Picture during one of it’s re-releases. Probably around 1982 for Wrath of Khan I’m guessing. That was the first movie I ever saw in the theater. I saw every Star Trek opening night with him (except for Kahn) up until Nemesis, which neither of us gave a shit about. I lived in Japan during '09 and Into Darkness, but we caught Beyond at the theater before it left.

Predator was the first R-Rated movie I got to watch thanks to my friend’s dad renting it on VHS way back when.

Just realized these were movies I saw in the theater. I’m sure I saw some movies at home prior (despite how old I am) but I don’t recall which ones.

I got to go to a local theatre when bout I was 7ish with the rest of my kindergarten class to watch the water babies. I haven’t a clue as to what it was about, then my parents took me to funky town to watch Herbie Goes Bannanas in the cinema, didn’t have a clue what it was on about. Then by dad bought a Betamax player, the first film we rented was Airplane.

Can you now see why I’m disfuntual now?

I can’t remember what the first film I ever saw was, but the first film I saw in the theatres was Cars at the age of four (I hadn’t had my birthday yet). I got real bored during it.

The above post horrifies me. I thought I was young.

It’s pretty strange, there are posters here with children and posters who are roughly the same age as those children. Wide range. Also does this mean Ric2 isn’t the youngest one here anymore?

I don’t think he’s been the youngest one around here for two years or so.

I should just put my age in my signature so people stop being horrified that they have a 15 year old in the midst.

Apparently it was either Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs or Dumbo.

The first movies I remember seeing were in 1980-81.

Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo
The Muppet Movie
Star Wars
The Empire Strikes Back
Herbie Goes Bananas
Popeye
Lady and the Tramp
Condorman
Battlestar Galactica
Flash Gordon
E.T.
The Smurfs and the Magic Flute

I also remember seeing The Wizard of Oz on TV around then.

My son is 22, almost ten years older than some of the posters we’ve had. (I wish his English was as good as Ric2 or Ziggy’s).

I think the first movie I actually saw at a theater was Star Wars (at a drive-in during the movie’s original release). I must have been two or three at the time.

Then there was my first date, when I went to see Cinderella at the theater with a girl from my kindergarten class. That was around 1981. Which is the same year I saw Excalibur and Dragonslayer at the theater. Then I saw Dark Crystal in the theater in 1982.

Looking back at all these great movies I was seeing at such a young age, all I have to say is, “Man, my momma was raisin’ me right!”
