A while back, I ran out of patience with the endless provision of cookies to the people who looked at the United States of America and decided that just what we needed was to have it run for a while by a Manhattan real-estate grifter and career public nuisance because he was going to bring jobs and money back to a bunch of states he very likely couldn’t find on a map.
Holy mother of god, I’m tired of reading quotes from people who live in places where the local economy went to hell or Mexico in 1979, and who have spent the intervening years swallowing whatever Jesus Juice was offered up by theocratic bunco artists of the Christocentric Right, and gulping down great flagons of barely disguised hatemongering against the targets of the day, all the while voting against their own best interests, now claiming that empowering Donald Trump as the man who will “shake things up” on their behalf was the only choice they had left. You had plenty of choices left.
In Kansas, you could have declined to re-elect Sam Brownback, who’d already turned your state into a dismal Randian basket case. In Wisconsin, you had three chances to turn out Scott Walker, and several chances to get the state legislature out of his clammy hands. And, now that the teeth of this new administration are becoming plain to see, it’s a good time to remind all of you that you didn’t have to hand the entire federal government over to Republican vandalism, and the presidency over to an abject loon on whom Russia may well hold the paper.
You all had the same choices we all had. You saddled the rest of us with misrule and disaster. Own it. I empathize, but I will not sympathize.
You fell for a con. Seventy percent of you voted for the very policy that has taken your friend away because you thought the damn coal mines were coming back when everyone has been telling you for years that the coal industry is as dead as Kelsey’s nuts and that Donald Trump, Jesus Christ, and J.H. Blair working together couldn’t bring it back. Because, I suspect, you know that better than anybody, you channeled your frustration and despair into chants of “Build The Wall!”
Tonight, the president will unveil his facsimile of a federal budget and I guarantee you it will make the lives of practically every person in all these stories worse, not better. And, in a few months, when it’s really begun to bite, the editors and news directors will send out more expeditions to find out what “real Americans” feel about the disaster they’ve wrought on themselves, and us. They all had the same choices we did. They all had the same opportunity to inform themselves; I mean, it wasn’t like the campaign was under-covered, and it wasn’t like the eventual winner hasn’t governed precisely the way he campaigned.
Feeling lost and desperate is a terrible thing. But if, out of loss and desperation, you drink 20 cold beers out of the old preparation room and smash your car into a daycare center, the judge is not going to care how lost and desperate you felt. You build your own prisons in this life. You design your own sentences.

President Donald Trump suggested in an interview broadcast Tuesday that former President Barack Obama was, in part, at fault for last month’s raid in Yemen that resulted in the death of a Navy SEAL, even though it was Trump who gave the order to carry out the raid.
In an interview with “Fox & Friends” that aired Tuesday, Trump was asked how he felt that William Owens, whose son William “Ryan” Owens was killed in the raid in Yemen, didn’t want to meet with Trump out of indignation because of the raid’s botched execution.
“This was a mission that was started before I got here,” Trump said. “This was something they wanted to do. They came to see me, they told me what they wanted to do, the generals, who are very respected — my generals are most respected we’ve had in many decades, I believe. And they lost Ryan.”
What the hell is he even talking about?
Here’s a fun pack of stories. And yeah, Huffpost, but they are real stories.
DeVos, unsurprisingly, doesn’t understand HBCUs.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/betsy-devos-hbcu_us_58b59757e4b060480e0c00d2?z0yxe4cu4ni9newmi&
Many historically black colleges and universities were formed in response to systemic discrimination that kept African-American students out of white institutions, but Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos thinks they are a great example of “school choice.”
After meeting with leaders of these institutions at the White House on Monday, DeVos released a statement that some leading academics, politicians and rights groups are calling an inaccurate and offensive retelling of history. In her statement, DeVos praised HBCU’s for providing opportunity to black students during a time when “there were too many students in America who did not have equal access to education.”
“They saw that the system wasn’t working, that there was an absence of opportunity, so they took it upon themselves to provide the solution,” says the statement from DeVos, published Tuesday. “HBCUs are real pioneers when it comes to school choice. They are living proof that when more options are provided to students, they are afforded greater access and greater quality.”
In truth, many HBCU’s were formed as a matter of necessity when white supremacist structures systematically denied black students access to mainstream educational institutions, says University of Pennsylvania Professor Marybeth Gasman.
“I found the statement to be completely ahistorical,” said Gasman, who studies HBCUs. “It completely ignores slavery, it completely ignores Jim Crow, segregation, oppression, mass discrimination across the country, it ignores our entire history. It’s a whitewashing of HBCU history … African-Americans did not have a choice when black colleges were established ― that was the only thing they could do.”
Trump, unsurprisingly, doesn’t understand female Governors.
President Donald Trump hosted the nation’s governors at the White House on Sunday night and welcomed them and their families ― well, the married male governors with daughters, anyway.
“He welcomed all the governors, their wives and their daughters last night,” Oregon Gov. Kate Brown (D) told The Huffington Post on Monday. “It was weird.”
Brown, one of four female governors in the U.S., took the slight in stride.
“It was just ― I’ve been there before,” she said. “I think people forget that there are female governors in the world.”
And this one…I can’t even.

Well tonight Trump addresses Congress for the first time. I think the Dems should do something in protest. My favorite(perhaps because it is in my blood to do) is boo the hell out of him when he comes. Perhaps keep booing and shouting so he can’t give his speech. Or, perhaps walking out when he is introduced or not showing up at all. Perhaps they should just sit there reading books or newspapers and not pay attention to him. Maybe turn their backs to him the whole or time or put their heads on their decks the whole time. They should not let this opportunity pass. This is not an ordinary Presidency. The disagreements with him are not of the ordinary kind. They should not give him the respect that the opposition ordinarily gives to the President.
at the very least, don’t give him any applause and the first time he lies shout “that’s a lie”(I seem to remember a Republican did that to Obama, its time to return the favor).

http://www.cnn.com/2017/02/27/us/georgia-couple-confederate-flags-threats/
A Georgia couple who rode with a Confederate flag-waving group that made armed threats against African-Americans at a child’s birthday party were sentenced to prison Monday.
Jose “Joe” Torres, was sentenced to 20 years, with 13 years in prison, after a jury convicted him on three counts of aggravated assault, one count of making terroristic threats and one count of violating of Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.
Kayla Norton was sentenced to 15 years, with six years in prison. She was convicted on one count of making terroristic threats and one count of violation of the Street Gang Act.
“Many people tried to make the case about simply flying the Confederate Battle Flag,” Douglas County District Attorney Brian Fortner said in a statement. “This case was about a group of people riding around our community, drinking alcohol, harassing and intimidating our citizens because of the color of their skin.”

You consider that a fun story???
Also it says “Jose “Joe” Torres, was sentenced to 20 years, with 13 years in prison”, and “Kayla Norton was sentenced to 15 years, with six years in prison” so what going on with the remaining 7 years him and the remaining 9 years for her?
What the hell happened to the Oval Office carpet? It looks like a pack of wild dogs piddled on it!

Yeah, that wasn’t written very well. I assume the rest of the time is probation or house arrest or some other out-of-prison punishment/confinement.

Yeah, somehow this always seemed more right for the Oval office to me.(by right I mean as opposed to wrong, and not as in right wing)
http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/trump-aide-under-fire-tweet-about-anti-semitic-acts-n726766
A top adviser to President Donald Trump was under fire Tuesday for a tweet about the recent rash of bomb threats at Jewish Community Centers that Democrats charged points to them as the culprits.
Anthony Scaramucci tweeted that “it’s not yet clear who the #JCC offenders are” but he noted the “Democrats effort to incite violence at Trump rallies.”
“It’s not yet clear who the #JCC offenders are. Don’t forget @TheDemocrats effort to incite violence at Trump rallies”
He also cited a Breitbart article that included a video from conservative activist James O’Keefe that claimed Democrats used “trained provocateurs” during the presidential campaign to instigate violence at Trump rallies.
Almost immediately, Scaramucci began taking flack, including from Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), who called his tweet “vile” and called for him to resign.
This is the same shit that Trump has said and it is disgusting.
Mel’s is more funny.

That is Nixon’s (and Gerald Ford’s for awhile) Oval Office. I hadn’t heard about the fire part, your Oval Office pic was Clinton’s.
But if they don’t like Hillary, why would they vote for her? I don’t understand this logic. If they don’t like her, they probably wouldn’t have voted for her regardless of who else is on the ticket, and most likely did not think Trump was that bad. Furthermore, frankly it’s long overdue a third party had power in government. I do not see how not voting for your candidate is childish.
Trump supporters voting for Trump was not childish…although it’s already proving to be self-defeating in many cases!
Bernie supporters in swing states not voting for Hillary because of what the DNC did to Bernie was childish…unless they somehow truly still believe things would be no better under Hillary than things already are under Trump. And if you’re really a Bernie supporter, I don’t know how you can possibly believe that. And if they do, I think they’re deluding themselves.
Bernie supporters tended to hate Hillary long before what she and her cohorts did to him at the DNC. There was never going to be a rush of his people voting for her.
Well I hope his people enjoy Trump.
I guess. Personally I think that Trump is a message to the DNC that they can’t afford to push a candidate that their base hates.
