Three words: Deus Ex Machina.
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

Yeah man!

Chill rooms kick ass. I'm making it a 'must' at any dwelling I inhabit the rest of my life.

2 things:

1. ALL time travel movies are freaking excellent, some examples (most already mentioned) are: 12 Monkeys, BTTF, Time Machine, HP3, Terminator Series, Bill&Ted etc - all of these rock.

2. What's a chill room?

Has anyone here heard of John Titor? He was a guy who was posting online around 2001 claiming to be from the future. Do a Google search and check it out - genuine or hoax, either way it's fascinating.

P.S Chaltab, I love BTTF and nice to see you fighting the cause so well.

War does not make one great.

There was this guy 2 or 3 years ago who unexplainably won a lot of money in the stock market, they had no record of that person, and he claimed to be from the future. I don't know what happened to him.

The reason for the time train at the end of BTTF3 is because the writers had basically written themselves into a corner. Marty helps save Doc from Buford Tannen, but Doc is still in the past(possibly in jail for stealing the train) and will still die in the past. If they didn't have Doc return, people would walk out of the theater angry because they just saw a pointless, depressing movie. This being a comedy, you want to end on a happy note. Now, the audience gets a resolution to the story and the friendship. Doc is still alive and involved in other adventures. People leave the theater with a warm feeling on a high note.

Therefore, as I said... a huge Deus Ex Machina

Perhaps it requires more than 1.21 jiggowats to power the Big Flux Capacitory on the time train--and Doc found a huge chunck of yet-to-be-mined uranium.

Go back in time to get some old Unaltered trilogy tapes.

Meh. Go back in time to steal some good print materials and make my own transfer.

Back on the subject of Timeline, almost any Crichton book is better than the inevitable film. The only exception is The Lost World; that book was a mess.

Princess Leia: I happen to like nice men.
Han Solo: I'm a nice man.

Yeah, but the movie was a mess as well. Arguably still worse than the book.
