I also question how that ruins his character, yet you apparently take no issue with how he’s handled in TFA. I’d argue ignoring an entire trilogy of character development
That makes no sense. I guess you haven’t actually seen ROTJ, or understand that TFA did not take place immediately thereafter.
The same argument could be used to defend the characters in the PT in regards to their OT counterparts; it’s a moot point.
Or is TFA not supposed to be a direct continuation? Oh, wait, no, silly me, I’m sure we’ll find out in expanded universe material why Han’s arc in IV - VI was butchered so horrifically. It’s not like TFA should stand on its own or anything, God forbid.
I don’t actually care that you like TFA but the insane double standards you have towards it is unreal. Apparently its huge flaws are perfectly okay because… Reasons? But in literally any other Star Wars material there are not allowed to be any of the exact same flaws. Ever.
It would almost be hilarious if it wasn’t so ridiculous.
One might think you’re blinded by nostalgia, but obviously that’s only something those dastardly PT fans are affected by, obviously.
