Although I'm going to take a wait-and-see approach to the next generation of dvd's, I really hope the unification happens. I have some questions though:

-How much of an improvement will it be over current top-tier transfers, like LOTR, SW PT, Matrix, ect?

-How will older films (with scratches and faded/grainy film) look? Can they really take something 25 years old and make it look better?

edit: By the way, good thread, Darth Simon. I think the old one was started and frequented by that which shall remain nameless.
