The crashed X Wing looks a tad out of scale. 😉

And damn, someone at Celebration better be telling us we’re getting all that alternate footage down the road.

Kinda awkward doing it only a couple weeks after the initial blu-ray goes on sale, though.

Yeah, but they ought to know by now we want to see that stuff. Enough jerking around!

Not buying it until it has deleted scenes and alternate takes. If it never has them I just will not buy it.

Does it have a documentary on it?

Again, it’s rare that any studio releases scenes that were reshot or nullified by a radically different cut. I think everyone should stop expecting this. If it happens, it won’t be until many years from now.

Yeah, it only took decades for all the OT stuff to dribble out. 😦

The trailers that advertised the film were practically made up of loads of alternative and deleted footage. So I think it’s a bit harsh not to show some of it. I think a lot of people were looking forward to this aspect as It was really interesting.

I’ll wait to see if a deluxe version appears. I’d like to buy the film but sorry this does not meet my expectations I want something better than this.

Agreed. I had been thinking about buying it but without any of the alternate scenes it’s a deal-killer.

The trailers were made before the film was radically altered. They don’t owe us anything.

Did you guys seriously think they’d include any of that stuff? I can’t think of any film doing anything like this upon its initial home video release.

I’m tired of double dipping.

I am happy with our UK Blu-ray box art. The effort has been made this time. Our Force Awakens release was just terrible.

To clarify, I don’t really care about the deleted scenes that much, never have for any movie other than from a curiosity standpoint. It’s not like I’m going to go back six months later and watch four deleted scenes again. I’m going to wait for some proper special features like a good doc and/or commentary.

I have to agree even if there were not any deleted scenes if there was a documentary detailing the making of the film the loss of the composer the bringing Gilroy in charge of Final cut.

This would be just as interesting and a story unto itself. I don’t think there is anything to be ashamed of. Just interesting. It’s not like a train wreck film. It was good and I enjoyed it but it would be great to find out more about it.

The documentaries seem or sound pretty bland. Very little about actual production. Characters mainly by the sound of it. There could be bits in the documentaries but it sounds quite light.

That’s it for me also. It’s a rare day indeed when I watch any special features, particularly behind-the-scenes stuff. It takes away the magic for me. I never listen to commentary tracks either, for the same reason. I sometimes watch deleted scenes but they’re far from a priority. I certainly wouldn’t make a purchase based on them.

Truth be told, Rogue One will most likely be the first film where I purchase digital-only. I’ve all but cut cable completely and in doing so, I put an Apple TV on all three TVs in the house. With the exception of local stations for news & weather (soon to be via digital antenna), I watch all entertainment via Apple TV apps (Netflix, HBO, etc) or my ripped DVDs.

After ripping them, they sit in a hall closet unused. I have a DVD\Blu-ray set-up but I seldom use it for anything other than my box set of the Batman TV show. This past Christmas I even made the digital jump on Charlie Brown, Rudolph, and Frosty. The dust on those DVDs is now fourteen months old.

I used to worry about not having a permanent copy of all the films that are really important to me. I made peace with that several years ago when I realized that modern technology has made it so that I’m never without them. In fact, I just bought a new iPad last week and an hour after I set it up and restored from the cloud, it was an exact duplicate content-wise as the one previous.

Well we diverge on the behind-the-scenes stuff, which I absolutely love. I’m a sucker for an in-depth making-of doc.

Red lasers on TIE Fighters?

It’s the same poster used to promote the Chinese (?) cinema release for back in early January - albeit with a different Jyn Erso head - and they still haven’t fixed the TIE’s firing red lasers…

That is Korean.

Oh I defitinetly want way more special features than we’re getting. I want to see those deleted scenes as much as anyone, but I’m just being realistic about that.

I’ll probably wait on this. I’m not sure a double dip is as guaranteed here as it was for TFA, but I’ll still wait and see.

I think I’ll pass on this Blu-Ray. I don’t really have any interest in seeing the film again, and the special features don’t interest me.

Not enough people read the EU.

I have plenty of interest i rewatching R1 as the beginning of a marathon of it, OT, and TFA, but given the lack of doc and commentary, I might wait.

The special features look surprisingly generic to me. Only interviews with the usual PR chit chat but nothing about the actual production. As it was mentioned above, there should be a real documentary like the one’s they did for the ALIEN DVDs back then highlighting all production aspects.

It was mentioned over at blu-ray.com that Edwards actually confirmed that he recorded a commentary so I’m hoping there’ll be a deluxe version later this year.

is it clear that he recorded this on his version or the theatrical version?

His version is the theatrical.
