@ Fang Zei
I remember watching her Interview via Youtube Celebration Stream in 2015. She said they know that there’re things the fans want but they cannot do it/them right now. Very sure those were her words.

Hmm, I don’t think I ever saw that. I’ll see if I can find it…

“In the future it will become even easier for old negatives to become lost and be “replaced” by new altered negatives. This would be a great loss to our society. Our cultural history must not be allowed to be rewritten.” - George Lucas

Also I want to point out something that was posted on Home Theater Forum:

Apparently, Pablo Hidalgo posted on twitter that the 4k print of Star Wars seen by Gareth Edwards was in fact…

…the Special Edition.

There is no 4k scan of the OOT, and none is being worked on right now.

Your insistence that it won’t happen won’t be enough to end speculation Im afraid.

Pablo Hidalgo isn’t in the know about every facet of Lucasfilm.

Can you at least admit that the reason no one is believing this from you is because you don’t know what you’re talking about?

Even so, do you think he would make up Gareth Edwards’s 4k being the SE?

At the least, this means that the Gareth Edwards and RLM tangents are non-starters as far as this topic goes. They are the Special Edition versions. Any idea that an imminent announcement is just around the corner at Celebration or at worst next year or the year after or … well, that’s quite obviously just wishing and hoping at this point.

Not sure I have the time to keep reading this thread unless something drastic happens… like maybe:

Jedit: I’d even settle for this at this point:

Well, wish and hope if you want. I’m not going to begrudge you that. But maybe busting Disney’s balls a little after 5 freaking years, especially the way Lucas was criticized, might be a little more productive than everyone just shrugging their shoulders and closing their eyes.

Well given that practically everyone here has said that they’ll hold out until Celebration/May 25, or this fall at the latest, what exactly are you so bitter against us about? I guarantee you hell will be raised against Kennedy/Lucasfilm on this site if there’s no OUT announcement by the end of May.

Yeah, I’m sure the only thing that is preventing the release of the OOT is that there aren’t enough people criticizing Disney in this one random thread.

I’m not bitter towards anyone here or any other OOT fan. I’m just dumbfounded why they keep getting a free pass from people. My enmity is directed at Disney and Lucasfilm, not you guys.

Mainly because they’ve never explicitly come out and said its not going to happen?

It seems like people are really embracing the new characters. In fact, the big question people ask me now about Star Wars is, “Are Finn and Poe gay lovers?” And really how the f*ck would I know? My second husband left me for a man, so my gaydar isn’t exactly what you’d call Death Star level quality. ----Carrie Fisher

And we haven’t gotten to the most obvious marketing opportunity for it to happen, which is the 40th anniversary. I don’t get why anyone would think that the OOT would be a primary goal of Lucasfilm immediately after the buyout.

Maybe now’s a good time to get a petition going again.

What will this be, number 3? 4?

Keep in mind that it was probably around three years ago that he watched the 4K transfer of the SE, and that an SE restoration and an OOT restoration are not mutually exclusive.

I’m willing to at least wait until the big convention a couple months from now before I start declaring it a hopeless cause.

It’s arguably less hopeless now than it has been in several years. Lucasfilm obviously didn’t put out a gag order regarding the 4k restoration if Gareth Edwards talked openly about watching it.

Something is happening.

But if the convention comes and goes without a single word on the subject, that’s when we can start complaining.

That’s pretty much how I feel. Until Celebration happens, I remain hopeful we’ll get the OUT this year. No announcement? Then it’s war.

In all seriousness though, I can’t figure what else that could mean besides a new home video product and/or a wide theatrical release.

Has anyone suggested that Disney might put out a regular Blu-ray (of either the OUT or a new master of the SE) this year and then a UHD release after 2020? They’d be able to cash in on the anniversary and have something exclusive for when Fox’s distribution deal runs out. Plus the ST will be complete by then, so it could be box set city.
