Maybe its like this: you get captured and starved for a looooong time. You forget what food tastes like, let alone *good* food. Then you get served a big bowl of poop. Starving, you eat it- you have your reservations and can't say its really good but what else do you have? Then sometime later you're given another bowl of poop to eat- this bowl of poop has chocolate sauce and candy sprinkles on it. It seems like it should be better, its a bit more polished, but under everything its still poop. So some more time passes, you're still starved, but now they throw you a curveball: A nice fresh-baked pie of undetermined flavor. But you can't see right away that its poop. Doesn't smell like poop before you see it, doesn't quite taste like poop going down. In fact it has little hints of some of your favorite flavors in it.
So is it poop? At that point do you really care... especially because you can't remember that good food and your captor is about to cut you loose...
