I’m definitely interested in this project. As to releasing Ep4 first or waiting for Eps 5 & 6, I’m fine with whatever you would like to do. As to “pure” or “hybrid”; it would be nice to have a “pure” version, since Harmy did a “hybrid” version with ReSpecialized '97. However, I wonder if it would be possible to use Dr. Dre’s Color-Match tool to color correct your project with some of those 35mm example frames which were provided earlier in this thread? There may not be enough examples to do so, but if it could work, I’m sure Dr. Dre would know. Well that’s my two cents! Keep up the good work!

Stick to a pure release and only correct for the tint. Releasing EP4 could help in determining adjustments for the subsequent films, but if it isn’t so time consuming I wouldn’t mind waiting for the 3 simultaneously.

It doesn’t hurt to offer help, but it always hurts to disregard those that do.

Yes, I think that removing the pink tint will reveal the underlying color grading, specific just for this edition; of course, regrading it using a 1997 SE 35mm as color reference will be great but, if this scan is available, will be a way better way as source for a project.

I think that, with some patience and skill, would be not that hard to find a way to remove this pink tint, using some proper reference images.

I must add this: a direct comparison with the '04 reveals that in many shots where '97 has a strong pink tint - like in the Orange Tantive corridors - '04 is better, while in some others - like inside shots of the Death Star - '97 is better… maybe a “mixed” color grading could be an idea for another project! 😄

Found an old avisynth script to “mix’n’match” colors from two sources, I applied it to this project, adding the '04 colors from the HDTV; here you are a test clip - I used intentionally quite challenging shots at the beginning, so if you like it (or, at least, don’t dislike it too much) I think the rest of the movie should be only better…
