I have a fair number of personal VHS capture projects piling up that I want to get done once and for all. I am also hoping to preserve them in the highest quality I can afford.

Currently I have a couple of Diamond capture cards (one internal, one external USB) that seem to be pretty capable of doing the job - however, if there are any cards that are significantly better for this task, I’d love to hear about it.

The VCR I have at present is not adequate (single head, no S-VHS output), so I definitely need to seek out a better one. I know I’m going to want a 4-head player with Stereo HiFi and S-VHS out. I just don’t know what brand or model I should be trying to seek out (or avoid). These days there are tons of players in thrift stores to be had for fairly cheap.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!
