EDIT:
@flametitan
I don’t think there would be any family functions because Ben is going to prison if he turns back to the light. Just because he’s of the Skywalker bloodline doesn’t mean he can get away with multiple counts of murder and being part of a regime who destroyed an entire System. And that’s just what he’s done thus far. Imagine what that fucker is going to do next.
- Star Wars is a sci-fi take on a contemporary fairy tale world. Darth Vader’s redemption more or less absolved everything he did in Luke’s eyes (and the Force’s eyes, he got to be a force ghost!). Unless I read bloodline wrong, Leia in the new canon is more upset that she never got to see the good man and only knows the hate, than that Darth Vader got to be a karma Houdini by saving Luke (Legends is a different matter). The rest of the galaxy still hates Vader, but they don’t know about his redemption arc either.
I don’t see how this pertains to my point. Whether Luke, Leia or Rey (?) will forgive him doesn’t matter because he would be held accountable for his atrocities against the New Republic. If not execution or imprisonment I could see him being exiled to some ball of Bantha poodoo in the Outer Rim.
- I didn’t mean literally. It’s just a good illustration to point out how it’d be strained.
I knew that “Family Gatherings” is code for any circumstance that requires them to be in close proximity to each other.
EDIT:
He should also be stripped of The Force. That’s a juicy EU bit that needs to make its way over yonder to K-Canon.
