Rest assured, it’s better. Although I may also be biased, not because my hair particularly looks like that, but because I also sport (and prefer on others) a completely natural style. Mines quite curly though. Looks quite suave and professional when it’s short (it’s not the “bunched up” kind of curl, when short it just looks wavy), while when longer it has more of a Frodo Baggins look. So I go in cycles where I let it it grow out and have the frodo look for a while because it actually does look quite good (I’m not somebody that likes to brag on myself, but I will admit that I have really good hair according to women and it’s very thick and according to my family history I’m likely to have it until the day I die as thick hair runs in the family and baldness does not) then cut it off again and go back to the “suave” look. (not the shampoo, the word. Lol)
My hair isn’t curly and not all that thick, but it hasn’t receded at all and there aren’t any bald men in my family history on either my mom or dad’s side, so I lucked out there.
