It's official: ROTS is really rated PG-13

I don't know if this has been notified before, and ignore this thread if it has, but... it's official, Episode 3 is PG-13. Neat. But I'd like to see an R or NC-17 rated SW flick...

No no no no no no no! Not Star Wars! Save that for another movie.

But I am actually happy that it is PG-13, unlike the other SW movies. It shows me that perhaps GL isn't catering to the little kids as much and is trying to make a more serious movie.

You can't really tell much about the movie from the rating, though. What really got me excited was the trailer ("I need your help, son.")

Episode II: Shroud of the Dark Side

PG-13 in the US... so G in Canada?

Seriously, most PG-13 things in the uber-uptight US are PG or lower in Canada. So I guess it's gonna be a PG sweep for all six films here...

It got 12A in the UK and M in Australia, which I think are both about the same as PG-13

Wouldn't it have been a disappointment if, after we were all looking forward to the darkest SW movie yet, it got a PG or a G rating.

Just Google it.

Go-Mer-Tonic: I can’t say I find that very disappointing.

dark and violent and PG13 rating does not automatically equate to a great movie. Remember Star Wars and Empire did just fine with PG ratings.

Jedi was PG too, Warbler.

And we know that PG-13 doesn't mean good; In fact I despise the PG-13 rating. But it is an indication that Lucas hasn't watered it down to appeal to the kiddies. So hopefully no more Epuu fart jokes or Jar Jar stepping in Bantha Poodoo.

And I heard on the news today that Jar Jar doesn't even speak in the film.

BTW it'll be G rated here. Not exactly G, it's a different rating system, but everyone can watch it.

yes it was. All I was trying to say, is that it is possible for a PG Star Wars movie to be a great star wars movie. And that it is possible for a PG13 Star Wars movie to be bad Star Wars movie.

Does being rated PG-13 really mean ROTS will be a good film?
I'd like a qui-gon jinn please with an Obi-Wan to go.

Red heads ROCK. Blondes do not rock. Nuff said.

Yes, but the PG-13 rating did not exist back then. It wasn't instituted until 1984. Anything that would be be PG-13 today would have been PG back then.

Read what I wrote. I'll repeat it just incase I'm in the wrong thread: the PG-13 rating at least reasures us that Lucas isn't holding back as if it were a kids movie.

Besides, why are we acting like it's destined to be terrible?

Yes, it does seem that fans of the unaltered trilogy are usually also prequel haters, now that you mention it.

For the life of me I can't figure out why. More child-hood molesting nonsense, I guess.

Also, If Empire was made today, it would have gotten a PG-13. There's no question.

Nope. It was re-rated back in 1997 and 2004. In 97, Jedi almost got PG-13 for the shot of the Rancor eating the Gamorrean guard. From what I've heard (*just* rumor here, mind you) is that Star Wars got PG-13, and that's why Lucas censored the fighting, to bring it down to PG - and that Empire was the only one that never had a rating problem. That part is just rumor though, and as far as I know the rancor thing is true.

child-hood molesting nonsense? Maybe its cause the PT is made for the younger generation. All I can say is that I watched the EPs I and II and didn't like them. Believe me I wanted to like them, but I couldn't. As for predicting that EPIII will be bad I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am. But, when I watch it the first time I shall try to keep my mind as open as possible.

Livre - Anyone can see it
13 - No one under 13
18 - No one under 18

Never seen anyone being barred from getting into a 13 film. You REALLY gotta be 18 to get into a 18 film though. Most films are rated 13, including those rated R. The last 18 film I remember watching was "Traffic".
