Close Wars cartoon - I'm sorry, but i thought this sucked

(take a deep breath before you flame me & hear me out)

The first ~20 chapters were nothing but constant battles, and virtually no dialogue. It felt... juvenile. Childish. No depth. I'm kinda disappointed I wasted my money on the Clone Wars DVD. :-(

Chapters 21-25 were better.

How come no one has said there has been terrible voice acting in these cartoons.

How's the Guy who does the voice of Yoda, Kane..? somebody.. God he was awful he sounds like a half breed monkey with shit in his mouth rather than a loveable Frank Oz voice.

Meh, they were ok for what they were. An attempt to bridge the gap between both movies. I don't really agree with using the guy that did the Samurai Jack cartoons for the art, but it turned out ok. I agree though that the first 15 chapters were just senseless battles, but the last 10 I think made it really nice. I think that the voice acting for Padme was the worst though.

The first 20 chapters were 3 mins each so they couldnt go into any depth or have to much dialogue.

Lucas should have let them make one 2hr animated movie leading into Ep3 which could have gone into more depth.

But we ended up with brilliant star wars action which is what Tartakovskys best at and I loved all of them.

Three minute doses weren't enough. It would be cool to see if they could all be edited together (all twenty five) onto one DVD.

But not neccsarily as a feature, just so I don't have to change disks. Some of them have continuity, like the one where Padme and Yoda went to the ice planet. Of course it did have the anachronistic cloaking droids, which shouldn't have been invented until Thrawn's day.

The first 20 are available, edited together, on DVD so you might want to check it out.

QUESTION:

Anyone know why they didn't include chapters 21-25 on Volume 1?

There are two potential reasons, but nothing made official...

One, the DVDs were pressed before the episodes aired on Toon Network so they would have to push back the release date to get them on there.

Two, more money. And more promotion of the third season. Seasons 1 & 2 came out relatively close together on TV. People who saw s1 could remember it well enough when s2 started. However, wasn't it almost a year before s3 came out? A little reminder of all that happened was a good idea. Hence the DVD. Plus they get more money because people will buy the first DVD and then have to buy the second. But, knowing Luca$, he will also subsequently release an edition with all three seasons spliced together contiguously, heretofore pissing off those of us who already bought s1.

If he's standing in front of a Clonetrooper firing squad, that's fine.

Jar-Jar would be okay if he'd just stop talking!

They should go back and delete 75% of his lines, so he just stands around silently.... like Chewie did.

Man, I loved the Clone Wars. I dig these cartoons way more than the prequels and the expanded universe. They're not perfect, but they're pretty close.

The last chapter I saw was 25.

Are there any more chapters past that?

Not currently, but there's a rumor that says there will be more that serve as prequels to 21-25 that will be done totally in CG.

21-25 lead right into episode III with the chancellor's kidnap and all, so none can be set chronologically after them...

Well.. I guess the War didn't end immediately with the rescue of Palpatine so I guess it's possible.

Keep in mind this was a Cartoon Network production, not HBO films or A&E.
