I’d certainly love to see a Star Wars movie that goes beyond the traditional crawl and space-ship hovering above planet opening and the same Star Wars theme music. There are so many Star Wars tunes that can create a different mood than the joyous and triumphant music from A New Hope. Why can’t a Star Wars film begin with a prologue, then move onto the crawl and use a different sadder or grimmer John Williams theme.
I’m quite sure that ‘The Last Jedi’ will be a grim and dark affair with Han Solo’s death and deaths of millions on a planet having happened recently. It’s definitely not a happy time to be. Why can’t we begin with the FORCE THEME instead of the main theme? Seeing as the title refers to the last Jedi living, the force theme would compliment the crawl far more appropriately than anything else, since he/she’ll be the last force user.
Sticking to tradition is fine, but slavishly maintaining something due to fear of fan backlash can turn something from a creative work to just a merchandise and fan-service where everybody plays safe and does not innovate.
I’d like the opening scenes to be shaken up a bit. ‘Rogue One’ dared to do it and I really enjoyed that they at least tried to be different than the lot.
I appreciate that the Star Wars logo is Red for Ep VIII instead of bright yellow. Now we need it to slowly appear on-screen rather than just jump at us and then have the force theme play with the crawl rather than the SW theme. That’d be really interesting and different while still sticking to the visual legends of the series.
