Dislike, disappointment, hate, love, like, etc tend to be used and over-used and if none of us gave a rat's ass about Star Wars we wouldn't be here- we're here because we love SOME aspect of it. But each of us different tastes and experiences... which is what makes the forum so cool. And if we get frustrated by other people's opinions then we're taking all this much MUCH too seriously. And that isn't pointed at anyone in particular- that goes for all I think

But.... For one, people just like to bitch about stuff- especially stuff that they can't usually bitch about at work or sometimes even at home. Also I would tend to generaliz that most SE 'haters' are pre-disposed to dislike the PT for way too many reasons to get in to. The SE are WRONG on several levels, IMHO, not the least of which just basic film preservation. That said, reaction to the PT (or what we've seen so far of it) seems to either be resignation or disappointment. We can't control what Lucas creates (though some of us try real hard! ) but we can compare our experience with the OT with what we see now in the PT. Had I never seen the OT in their original forms in the theater, my reactions would be very different. But geez- before we had a VCR and long before DVD or anything of the sort, I saw that blasted first movie 27 times in the theater!!! 27!!! I couldn't *dream* of seeing a movie that many time in theaters these days- I'd go broke! Many films these days don't even rate a second watch. And the ones I think do I cling to (or at least buy the DVD). If I tried, I could find some good in almost every movie I've seen (almost). But TPM...? It was hard for me too find much, other the light saber duel. But mainly I felt a sense of disappoinment after waiting all those years and getting THAT movie. Of course, the SE warned me that something was up.

So anyway I do tend to think that for many reasons Kevin Smith, like him or not (and I do) is not the most nonpartial critic to write a review of Star Wars stuff.

greencapt, I salute you. The above was very well put together.
