Different chronology for the prequels

Author
Time
I've found this star wars chronology from a "before SE" book:
(i've translated the best i could,remember i'm french! ; )

- 25000: begining of the Republic

- 896: birth of Yoda

- 200: birth of Chewbacca

- 112: C3PO is activated

- 60: birth of Obi Wan Kenobi

- 55: birth of Anakin Skywalker

- 48: birth of Mon Mothma

- 35: end of Clone Wars, during this war, Obi Wan is given the rank of general. He meets Bail Organa and the young pilot ; Anakin Skywalker. At the end of the war, Obi Wan starts the training of Anakin but realises too late that he is seduced by the dark side.

- 29: birth of Han Solo.Corruption and injustice affect the republic. Taking advantage of the situation, senator Palpatine becomes president of the senate.

-18: Palpatine proclaims himself Emperor and abolishes the republic.First rebel manifestations.During that time Obi Wan tries to bring back Anakin, who is influenced by Palpatine. They fight, Anakin falls into a volcano and is left for dead by Obi Wan.
Anakin becomes Darth Vader and serves the Emperor, he starts to exterminate all the jedis.
3 senators (including Mon Mothma and Bail Organa) create the rebel alliance.
birth of Luke and Leia.

well...quite different from the prequels we know.
what do you think of it?

I too have read this and would have much prefered this take on it. But hey- we can't re-write history, can we George Lucas?

I remember this too. Hard to believe that Anakin was supposed to be 37 years old when the twins were born, eh? Yeah, Hayden's close.

Heh. I find it much easier to believe he was SUPPOSED to be that old, considering his age when unmasked at the end of ROTJ. Even if GL stuck with the 'force ghost from the time you were last a Jedi' or whatever justification was, that would put him about Shaw's age.

I guess George Lucas felt that a movie about a little 9-year old and a movie about a whiny teenager would "tie" better with the originals.

“Back when we made Star Wars, we just couldn’t make Palpatine as evil as we intended. Now, thanks to the miracles of technology, it is finally possible. Finally, I’ve created the movies that I originally imagined.” -George Lucas on the 2007 Extra Extra Special HD-DVD Edition

Goddamn that was awesome just flying through my mind. I really like how the whole Anakin story starts amidst the Clone Wars. The love theme would have been less of a main subject (like the OT, but still important), the overall tone would be darker (like the OT because it starts with the war and everyone is grown-up), and not everything would fit together so damn neatly (C-3PO being really old is a good idea)

Yeah, I just wish these had ben the movies made.....(sigh). The potential is just so much more.

Oh well, at least I have my thoughts, and those can't be messed up by GL.

Hey look, a bear!

For some reason, I picture a green baby with big ears and a bottle saying "Not the Jedi, Not the Jedi!" (Only funny if you've ever seen the puppet sitcom Dinosaurs )

Fascinating reading. First time I'd seen that timeline, yet that was alot closer to backstory I'd imagined as a kid watching the original trilogy, than what lucas has done with the prequels. Any idea what book it was from? And does it have any other juicy info?

This is the chronology Lucas should have used.

i remember reading something along these lines when I first read return of the jedi. Obi-wan explains how he meet Anakin and how he became darth vader. He went through alot more than he did in the movie. This timeline fits what he said in the book alot more than what Gl is passing as the prequel "story" at the present time. Hopefully, he sees the light and desides to redo the prequels the right way rather than messing with the OT yet again.
"Who's scruffy-lookin'?" - Han Solo
"I wish my lawn was emo so it would cut itself." -sybeman

Like s7en says, this is pretty much what I had built up in my mind based on the OT and the books and stuff.

War does not make one great.

i like this timeline, that's the way i pictured the episodes 1 to 3 in my mind, with designs that look like more episode 4. (imagine space battles with brand new Y-wings,Z-95 Headhunters fighters and Vitory class star destroyers...

I remember the Dinosaurs series. they tried to re-make it with CGI, called The Phantom Menace, don't you remember the young annoying kid with the frying pan beating obi-wan on the head, screamin "not the mamma! not the mamma!"
“Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nazi Reich Marshal Hermann Goering

interseting fact:
" ...the Boba Fett armor is a Mandalore armor, they were defeated by the jedis during the clone wars."
imagine that! jedis fighting an army of Boba Fetts!
